TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to Open 4/30 at Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley Playhouse will produce the first non-musical in its nine-year history with Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. The show will be directed by Berkeley Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director Daren A.C. Carollo (Berkeley Playhouse's Peter Pan, Hairspray; Broadway: A Time to Kill; Off-Broadway: bare The Musical; Regional: Diablo Theatre Company, City Lights Theatre Company, Napa Valley Opera House, Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre, Town Hall Theatre Company). Previews begin April 28. The show runs from April 30 to May 22 at the Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Ave in Berkeley, CA. Tickets are now available through the box office. New York City Ballet will open its 2016-17 Season at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, September 20, and will continue for 21-weeks of performances, through Sunday, May 28, and feature a total of 77 ballets created by 24 different choreographers.

Camille A. Brown Wins the 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award

The 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award, a prestigious honor that carries a $25,000 cash prize, will be presented to contemporary choreographer, dancer, and artistic director Camille A. Brown in acknowledgement of her vision and outstanding contributions to the dance field. Regularly garnering acclaim for her 'vividness and versatility' (Alastair Macaulay, The New York Times), Brown holds a New York Dance and Performance ('Bessie') Award, two Princess Grace Awards, a Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, and her work has toured nationally and internationally. The Jacob's Pillow Dance Award was established in 2007 and, in honor of its 10th anniversary, the Pillow has broadened the scope of this honor with a commitment to the artist's growth and future work. In addition to the unrestricted cash prize, this Award also includes a committed engagement for the 2017 Festival and a Creative Development Residency at Jacob's Pillow. Previous recipients of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Award include the legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham; MacArthur Fellows Michelle Dorrance and Kyle Abraham; and John Heginbotham of Dance Heginbotham, among others.

On Friday, February 26, City Players enjoyed a spectacular opening night of the World Premiere drama UTOPIA written by and starring David Douglas and Martin Head, directed by Katherine Whitney. The Mutilated will now run through March 13, 2016.
