Susan R. Williamson, Director of the Palm Beach Poetry Festival, has announced the Fish Tales Poetry Contest. To enter, local writers are encouraged to submit up to 30 lines of original poetry inspired by one of 10 designated photographs that are part of the Fish Tales exhibit now running at the Delray Beach Historical Society, located at 3 NE 1st Street.

A great week of general auditions and callbacks for the 2016-17 season with 60+ talented individuals attending the two-night and three days of callbacks seeking to fill roles for all four ART/WNY productions. Maura Nolan, director for Halley Fieffer's HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS AND THEN KILL THEM, Jeffrey Coyle, director for Steve Martin's THE UNDERPANTS, Matthew LaChiusa, director for A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE and alongside Billy Horn, musical director for AMERICAN IDIOT, had the difficult decision to chose from all those who attended. Once the dust settled, two of the four shows have been fully cast with the other two in the process of finalizing cast lists.

Windy City Music Theatre, one of Chicago's fastest-growing professional theatre companies, will present Disney & Cameron Mackintosh's MARY POPPINS, today, April 2, through April 17, in Jefferson Park.

The full cast is announced for the final production in the Coronet's spring season, DEATHWATCH, from April 11 to May 7. This new Print Room production of Jean Genet's powerful and provocative first play, in a translation by David Rudkin, marks its first major revival in almost 30 years. Deathwatch stars Danny Lee Wynter, Joseph Quinn, Tom Varey and Emma Naomi, and is directed by Geraldine Alexander, who received critical acclaim for the direction of her own play, Amygdala, at The Print Room's former space in 2013. The Coronet is also working with playwright David Rudkin on complementary activity around the production.

Spektor, and 'Vocal Duets' and 'The Piano Trio' by Fanny Mendelssohn.  The evening is presented in conjunction with Downtown Music Productions.

Its 2015-2016 dance season is a prime example of the commitment of The Music Center to present distinctive dance experiences to Southern California audiences, especially by internationally renowned artists in classical ballet and contemporary expression.

True story: in 1953, iconic L.A. architects Richard Neutra and Rudolph Schindler, onetime friends and business partners who had been bitterly estranged for 23 years, found themselves, by a vagary of fate, occupying the same hospital room in Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA presents a site-specific production in which playwright/director Tom Lazarus imagines what might have transpired during that reunion. Ray Xifo and John Nielsen star as Neutra and Schindler, with Heather Robinson in the role of Nurse Rothstein. The world premiere of The Princes of Kings Road opens on Sept 12 for a four-week run at the architecturally significant Neutra Institute and Museum of Silverlake.

Adler is author of The Wall, a fictional account of his life as a survivor of the Holocaust; and Theresienstadt 1941-1945: The Face of a Coerced Community, the first scholarly monograph to describe the particulars of a single concentration camp, to be published in a new translation in October 2015. The Jewish Museum will present H.G. Adler: A Survivor's Dual Reverie, an author talk featuring Daniel Mendelsohn, Peter Filkins, Ruth Franklin, and H.G. Adler's son Jeremy Adler, tonight, May 7 at 7pm. Edwin Frank will serve as moderator for the discussion. This program is co-presented with the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, May 4-10, 2015.

Houston, April 1, 2015—Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the cast members set to appear in the much-anticipated mariachi production El Pasado Nunca Se Termina/The Past Is Never Finished, featuring internationally renowned ensemble Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. El Pasado is the second mariachi opera from the creative team of José “Pepe” Martínez and Leonard Foglia, who collaborated to create the international hit Cruzar la Cara de la Luna/To Cross the Face of the Moon, with Mariachi Vargas, which HGO premiered in 2010 and reprised in 2013. HGO will close its 60th anniversary season with three performances of El Pasado on May 13, 16, and 17, 2015, in the Wortham Theater Center. The opera will be sung in Spanish and English with projected translations. The Chicago Tribune calls El Pasado “an audience-grabber with heart…with all the sweetness and tang of a freshly-made margarita.”

In JACK LEMMON RETURNS, the legendary actor's son Chris takes the audience through highlights of his father's career. There is, of course, lots of laughter but also poignant moments about the elder Lemmon's total preoccupation with his career, to the detriment of his satellite family's relationship with him.

'Kafka's Quest, a.k.a. Kafka/Samsa' is a quasi-realistic play by the late playwright Lu Hauser that imagines the family life of Gregor Samsa, the tragic victim of Kafka's 'Metamorphosis,' and his friendship with an historic Yiddish Theater actor and actress in Prague, prior to the events of the famed novella. Set in Prague in 1912, it portrays Gregor Samsa (the name Kafka personified himself with in the book) as torn between his father, who wants to keep him on the straight and narrow with a full time job, and his friendship with artists of the Yiddish Theater, who want him to join and write for them. His father's bankruptcy forces Gregor to become the breadwinner of the family, which has been forced to take in two mysterious lodgers to make ends meet. The back and forth between the two poles of Gregor's life will culminate in 'The Metamorphosis.' Theater for the New City will present the play's world premiere February 26 to March 15, directed by Manfred Bormann.
