The Tony Award-winning acclaimed string band, The Red Clay Ramblers, will make a rare New York appearance at City Winery on Friday, June 25. Now in their 38th year, The Red Clay Ramblers are a North Carolina string band whose repertoire reflects their roots in old-time mountain music, as well as country, rock, New Orleans, bluegrass, gospel, and the American musical. The City Winery concert will feature selections from their new North Carolina-focused CD, Old North State as well as well as songs from their three-time Broadway hit, Fool Moon.

Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

Last night, Thursday February 18, The New Group opened Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke, as the second production in its 2009-2010 season. This production plays a limited Off-Broadway engagement through March 20 at The New Group at Theatre Row. This production marks the first New York revival since the play's 1985 award-winning debut.

The New Group has announced casting for it's revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, the second show of their 2009 - 2010 season. Directed by Ethan Hawke, the production will feature Josh Hamilton, Marin Ireland, Deirdre O'Connell, Alessandro Nivoloa, Maggie Siff and Frank Whaley. Additional casting to be announced very soon. The limited Off-Broadway engagement set to begin January 29, in advance of a February opening.

Five incredible Latin Jazz legends will heat up the Blue Note stage at the Winter Latin Jazz Festival from January 19 to 31. The festival will start with jazz flutist Dave Valentin and conga legend Candido from Jan. 19 - 20. Trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and his Latin jazz group will finish up the week from Jan. 21 - 24. Argentinian saxophonist Gato Barbieri will play from Jan. 25 - 27, and percussionist Poncho Sanchez will finish up the festival from Jan. 28 - 31.

The Huffington Post is reporting that Police in Illinois have stated that actor and playwright Sam Shepard has been arrested on preliminary charges of speeding and drunken driving. Police Lt. Mark Kotte says officers stopped Shepard early Saturday morning, January 3rd in the central Illinois town of Normal.

Following a sold-out run at Ireland's Abbey Theatre, it will preview at The Public on Wednesday, June 25 and run through Sunday, August 10 with an official press opening on Monday, July 14 at 7 PM.
