The 92nd Street Y continues the 2008 season of its legendary American Songbook series, 'Lyrics & Lyricists, with Life is a Cabaret: A Tribute to Fred Ebb.' In over 700 songs written in the course of a 50-year career, Fred Ebb's lyrics epitomize the wit and sophistication of Broadway. From 1964 when they met, until his death in 2004, Ebb collaborated with composer John Kander to create the scores for Cabaret, Happy Time, Zorba, Chicago, Woman of the Year, The Rink, and Kiss of the Spider Woman, among others. They also collaborated on Curtains, which was produced in 2007, after Ebb's death. (more...)
