Long Island Author Pens Final Book in Series
by Christina Mancuso - Feb 18, 2014

Justin Barnes returns as Suffolk County Long Island Homicide's covert operative, assisting detectives in apprehending a well-heeled, politically connected, ruthless serial killer who wreaks havoc through several states. The murderer's weapon of choice is a single-shot pistol widely known for its MOA (Minute of Angle) accuracy. Sep Cramer (a.k.a. as Sam Carper, Mac Pace, Marc Espe, Case Reece, and Ace Reaper- quasi-anagrammatically derived names) is to give this year's keynote address at the prestigious Bohemian Club in California, a club whose members are among the country's elite in the world of politics, corporate business, industry and finance. The club's annual gathering was literally dubbed by President Herbert Hoover as 'The greatest men's party on the face of the earth.' In addressing the prestigious gathering, Cramer makes a convincing argument for the deployment of a devastating nuclear first strike against factions in the Middle East as the solution to our survival as a nation. Sep Cramer's loyal followers carry out the politico's bidding with respect to government policies. Two seemingly ordinary people, Robert Redler (a freelance writer) and Liza Downs (a retired schoolteacher), together with Suffolk County's Team Three Homicide Squad and Justin, scheme to put an end to the madman's madness in the making. Dr. Jason D. Dunham, Ph.D, Licensed Forensic Psychologist. Ph.D, Texas Tech University said, 'As a forensic psychologist specializing in psychopathy, I have been researching authors who write fiction in the field of forensic psychology. I am impressed with Banfelder's well-researched, credible, and unique plots regarding the criminal mind. Bravo. It is always nice to see the field advanced.' Robert Banfelder is an award-winning mystery/thriller novelist and outdoors writer. His psychological thrillers include 'No Stranger Than I,' 'The Author,' 'The Teacher,' 'Knots' and 'Trace Evidence.' 'The Author' and 'The Teacher,' the first and second books in the Justin Barnes series, both received 'Best Suspense Novel' accolades from NewBookReviews. In addition to his novels, Banfelder writes outdoors articles, which have appeared in numerous publications. He presently maintains a monthly online report titled North Fork Bays for Nor'east Saltwater. He is a member of the Long Island Outdoor Communicators Network and the New York State Outdoors Writer's Association. Banfelder also co-hosts Cablevision TV's Special Interests with Bob & Donna. Banfelder is available for media appearances, interviews, lectures and book signings.

Harry Sidebottom Endorses Reprint of 'The Year of the Horsetails'
by Christina Mancuso - Nov 22, 2013

The long-lost historical novel 'The Year of the Horsetails' by R. F. Tapsell, first published in 1967 and long out of print, has now been republished by the specialist company CNPosner Books. The Oxford classicist and bestselling historical novelist Harry Sidebottom, author of the Warrior of Rome series, has written the following blurb about the book: 'Set in an unusual time and place, The Year of the Horsetails creates an exotic, fully imagined world combined with universal themes. Intensely exciting. An inspiration.' Dr. Sidebottom earlier made the following comment in an appendix on page 424 of Warrior of Rome: The Wolves of the North: 'While editing this novel, I chanced upon a novel I read as a child. Re-reading The Year of the Horsetails by R. F. Tapsell (1967), I realized where my interest in nomadic warfare began and, with Bardiya - Tapsell's siege-engineer, outsider hero - something of the origins of Ballista. Tapsell was a superb historical novelist, and some enterprising publisher should put his works back in print for a new generation.' A synopsis of the book (non-spoiler) follows:- Eastern Europe: Early Middle Ages. The nomad warrior Bardiya must flee from the evil empire of the Mongol-like Tugars and their ruthless Kagan. He receives hospitality from the sedentary Slavic Drevich people; but fears that they also might succumb to the might of the Tugar empire. Will he be able to convince them of their danger and teach them the skills necessary to defeat their new enemy? The book is also a finalist in the Reader's Favorite Book Awards 2013 in Historical Fiction. The Kindle edition is available on Amazon for only 1.71 GBP or $US2.74. Paperback editions are available from only 0.99GBP +postage. To read more reviews or purchase the book, go to www.amazon.co.uk/The-Year-Horsetails-3rd-1/dp/0956347541/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_pap

RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL Opens at Actors' Playhouse Tomorrow
by Courtnie Mele - Oct 8, 2013

Ruthless! The Musical is a gem of a satirical comedy about the consuming drive for stardom. Suburban housewife Judy Denmark is dull as dull can be, but her daughter, Tina, is the greatest song-and-dance sensation to ever hit the third grade. She's cute. She dances. She sings. And she would do anything to get the lead role in her school play...ANYTHING! Move over Honey Boo Boo, this outrageous and hysterically funny musical hit garnered rave reviews during its Off-Broadway run in the early 90s, and is ripe for a revival in today's celebrity driven world.
