The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced the 12 winners of the 2013 Building Brooklyn Awards, which recognizes recently completed construction and renovation projects that enrich Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods and economy.

On Thursday, June 13 (7 + 9 pm) at The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn, choreographer Rebecca Lazier and indie-classical ensemble Newspeak present the first US performances of Coming Together/Attica, a site-specific setting of Frederic Rzewski's iconic minimalist scores written following the 1971 prison riots in upstate New York. Lazier's dancers are Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener (formerly of Merce Cunningham Dance Company); Asli Bulbul, most recently from Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company; Jennifer Lafferty, who is featured in the work of Beth Gill and Yasuko Yokoshi; Pierre Guilbault; and Christopher Ralph.

Martita Goshen's Earthworks - 9 dancers joined by female equestrian and jockey Janice Blake Baeza - will premiere her 'Turning Home,' a tribute in dance and film to the greatness and goodness of American thoroughbred racehorses Barbaro and the brilliant Ruffian, who both died tragically and too soon. The one-hour work has original music by Art Baron of the Duke's Men, and Grammy Award-winning cellist/composer David Darling, and video by Peter Richards. Three performances, tonight, April 18-20, at the Mark Morris Dance Center, 3 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn.

Featuring BAX's Artists-In-Residence (AIR), these performances culminate a shared journey through the creative process. Audience members enjoy the rare opportunity to follow a work and engage its creators from the early stages through to full productions. This journey began with the Open Studio Series in November, continued with the Works-in Progress Series in January, and culminates in these Spring performances.

The Deedle Deedle Dees are an educational rock band based in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2003, they have been wowing families with rousing songs based on history and science. The results have made them New York City favorites, with a rabid and devoted following of kids (and their parents).

The Postal Service's June 14 show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center sold out within hours of going on sale last Friday. Due to overwhelming demand, a second show at the venue has been added on June 15. Pre-sales will begin on Friday, February 15 at 10am ET and run through Saturday, February 16 at 12pm ET. Public on-sale will begin on Saturday Feb 16 at 12pm ET.

Brooklyn artists Jay Leibowitz (STNJ, TAC, Shakespeare's Who's on First), and Zac Lasher (U-Melt, Brooklyn Sound Lab, Bebe Buell Band), will take the stage with their company of 18 professional performers and musicians in two live concert readings of VERY VERY - an exciting new vision of Shakespeare's As You Like It, re-imagined as a contemporary rock concert, on March 4, 2013.

Multiple Tony Award-winner JULIE TAYMOR will direct and ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL will compose original music for William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the inaugural production in Theatre for a New Audience's first home in the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District, 262 Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Streets. Previews begin October 19, 2013 for an opening November 2.

Featuring a concert version of King's Bessie-nominated piece Astral Epitaphs that was commissioned by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company for its final shows at the Park Avenue Armory in Dec. 2011, the music of New York composer John King (www.johnkingmusic.com) will be presented at Brooklyn's Roulette tonight, December 7 at 8pm.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents COLLECTED STORIES by Donald Margulies, now through December 16, 2012, in collaboration with Forward Theater Company of Madison. In COLLECTED STORIES two strong-willed writers from dramatically different backgrounds struggle with success. MCT has also produced Margulies' plays BROOKLYN BOY (2009) and his Pulitzer Prize-winner DINNER WITH FRIENDS (2003).
