Reprinted with a new preface to mark the centenary of the Great War, Alan Wilkinson's monumental work returns!
The myth that the war was fought by 'lions led by donkeys' powerfully endures – it turns heroes into victims. Alan Wilkinson demonstrates the sheer horror, moral ambiguity, and the interaction between religion, the church and war with a scholarly, and yet poetic, hand.
The Vietnam War was a long, costly armed conflict that pitted the communist regime of North Vietnam and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong, against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. It was the longest war in American history and the most unpopular American war of the twentieth century. Even today, many still ask whether the American effort in Vietnam was a sin, a blunder, a necessary war, or a noble cause, or an idealistic, if failed, effort to protect the South Vietnamese from totalitarian government.

Now, it might be Kristin Chenoweth's turn. Riedel wrote that 'Kristin Chenoweth has said she'd love to play Dolly Levi in 'Hello, Dolly!' in about 10 years. But her wish may come true a lot sooner. I hear she's in discussions to star in a multimillion-dollar Broadway revival within the next two years.' He goes on to note that lined up as director and choreographer is Warren Carlyle (Cotton Club Parade, A Christmas Story, Chaplin, Follies & More.)

She'd play Lily Garland, the temperamental movie star (Madeline Kahn in the original). It's a perfect role for her, and she generated good buzz when she appeared in a reading at the Roundabout a couple of years ago.'
