Everyone's favorite swamp-dwelling ogre is set to light up the stage in Grand Rapids Civic Theatre's production of Shrek the Musical, playing June 1-17, 2018. 

Mill Mountain Theatre presents exciting programming for their Young Audience Series as two productions: Mother Goose Tales and Shakespeare's The Tempest run in repertory on the Waldron Stage, May 5-12. Artisan Children's Theater proudly presents A FAIRY TALE CHRISTMAS CAROL THE MUSICAL at its 148 seat Second Stage facility. The theater is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in Hurst. Second Thought Theatre closes its 2017 season of change with the world premiere of The Necessities by Dallas-based playwright and artist Blake Hackler. Joel Ferrell, Associate Artistic Director for the Dallas Theater Center, returns to direct after previously directing Othello and Gruesome Playground Injuries for the company.

'A Whole New World' kicks off the summer youth program with Aladdin JR., based on the iconic animated film and featuring an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Soar to new heights on a magical, flying carpet ride filled with romance, adventure and hilarious hijinks. When street urchin Aladdin vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie's magic power to become a prince in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more beloved characters come to life in this fantastical musical that celebrates the power of love and friendship. Aladdin JR. is directed and choreographed by Carolanne Marano, with Musical Direction by Miriam Arichea. The production opens July 7 and runs for 5 performances only through July 9.

The Capitol Center for the Arts ("CCA") will be alive this summer with singing, dancing, and theatre as it presents performance series by Mr. Aaron, RB Productions and Impact Children's Theatre. My name is Justin Rubenstein, and I am a first year Junior at Dreyfoos School of the Arts. I am fortunate enough to be a part of the spring production of Shrek: the Musical, which has been nothing short of a magical experience. In Shrek, I play the characters Papa Shrek, a Duloc Guard, and a Knight. Although I was also in the fall production of Romeo and Juliet, this was the first time that I have ever been involved in a musical theatre production even close to this caliber. There have been a tremendous amount of new ideas, practices, and methods I had never been involved in and, pairing this with more technical aspects to a show than I have ever encountered, makes this one of the most enjoyable and educational shows I've been a part of to date.
