'Hello Dolly...it's so nice to have you back where you belong.' I have to admit, prior to seeing the ebullient production of 'Hello Dolly!' at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, I generally considered the musical, by Jerry Herman (music and lyrics) and Michael Stewart (book), to be a relic of a bygone era, based on a play of an era even more bygone (Thornton Wilder's 1938 comedy 'The Merchant of Yonkers,' reworked as 'The Matchmaker' in 1955). However, after seeing this joyful production, directed by Suzi Award winner Heidi Cline McKerley, I must concede that this heart-warmingly energetic show is in fact back where it belongs, on stage entertaining audiences young and old.
Since it's founding in 1992, Georgia Ensemble Theatre has generally produced a small musical each year, but in its 20th season, G.E.T. is presenting one of the grandest shows in Broadway history, 'Hello Dolly!' Their production is directed by Suzi Award winner Heidi Cline McKerley (Horizon Theatre's 'Avenue Q') and choreographed by her husband Jeff (who also stars as Cornelius), who won two Suzis; Best Actor and Best Choreography for the New American Shakespeare Tavern's 'Cabaret.' Music direction is by Bill Newberry. The show opens April 11th and runs through April 28th.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will close its 2012-2013 20th anniversary season-long celebration with the classic Broadway musical, Hello, Dolly! by Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart, directed by Heidi Cline McKerley running April 11-28, 2013, at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA. This production is generously sponsored by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
In preparation for Ford's Theatre Society and Signature Theatre's co-presentation of the Tony-winning musical HELLO, DOLLY!, which will be directed by Eric Schaeffer and runs March 15 through May 18, 2013 in Washington, D.C., The Washington Post conducted a series of interviews with those involved onstage and behind the scenes during the original Broadway production.
Due to a scheduling conflict, Marc Bruni has withdrawn from directing Hello, Dolly! at the Goodspeed Opera House this season. Daniel Goldstein, director of the recent hit Broadway revival of Godspell, returns to Goodspeed Musicals where he previously directed The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown at The Norma Terris Theatre in 2011. Mr. Goldstein will helm the much-anticipated summer extravaganza Hello, Dolly!.
Two time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals, under the leadership of Executive Director Michael P. Price, is delighted to announce its Golden Anniversary season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. The 50th season includes three very special musicals that are sure to please theatregoers: the charming collegiate comedy Good News will run from April 12 - June 22; Jerry Herman's beloved Hello, Dolly! will run from June 28 - September 8; and Frank Loesser's enchanting Broadway hit The Most Happy Fella will run from September 20 - December 1, 2013.
"To the cheers of many, on June 18, 1963 the footlights were once again lit on the Goodspeed Opera House stage. And now, fifty years later, we are in awe that so much has happened in and because of this gem of a building. It truly was an impossible dream that, from this tiny stage, the world of American musical theatre would be changed forever. Our Golden Anniversary celebration will feature three extraordinary musicals which we believe uniquely highlight what Goodspeed does best," said Mr. Price.
Award-winning actress Janie Dee returns to Curve to play the title role in Artistic Director Paul Kerryson's production of Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly!
