Based upon the show business aspirations and successes of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, and others, the musical follows the story of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois called "The Dreams", who become music superstars. It was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical, and won six. It was later adapted into a motion picture from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures in 2006.

The actress/country music singer recently told KILT Radio: 'I'm working on a project that will be announced soon that's for Broadway...But it's to bring country music to Broadway. I'm trying to merge those worlds together. I think a lot of Broadway musical fans, they don't realize are from the South or from middle America. That's who comes to see Broadway shows in New York. It will be really cool, so I'm excited about it. I'm a producer of it as well.'

Laura Bell Bundy's Opry Concert Forced to Change Venues due to Flood

This Saturday, May 22, Laura Bell Bundy is scheduled to make her debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. However, due to the recent Tennessee floods, Bundy's debut will take place at a temporary venue --- The War Memorial Auditorium. The Auditorium is one of the three alternate sites being used during the ongoing flood renovations.
