Set against the backdrop of World Pride and the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, Pride Plays hopes to be a reflection of the queer experience the community has braved in the years since its heroes took their stand.



More than a dozen play readings from celebrated LGBTQIA voices will be presented from June 20th through 24th at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, capturing the prideful spirit of the LGBTQIA community and celebrating 50 years of theatrical voices.

Cleveland Play House (CPH) brings to life Lynn Nottage's complex story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Rust Belt drama Sweat.  Set in Reading, PA, this relevant story offers audience members suspense through its intricate portrayal of characters battling to survive in a city crippled by economic stagnation. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley will direct. Previews begin on October 13th, with press opening on October 19th at the Outcalt Theatre in Playhouse Square. Merrimack Repertory Theatre opens it 40th anniversary season with NATIVE GARDENS, #8 on American Theatre magazine's list of the top 10 most-produced plays of 2018-2019. With a dozen theaters mounting Karen Zacarias' delightful tale that pits a millennial, Latinx couple against a white, baby boomer couple, across a shared backyard fence, my prediction is that there will be lots of happy patrons debating the definition of good neighbors after seeing this show. To complicate matters, all four are basically good and decent people, just like us, but circumstances change. When they are tested and show new colors, are they a temporary aberration or their true ones?

Theatr Clwyd today announces full cast for its Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington - The Purrrrrfect Rock 'N' Roll Panto. Zoe Waterman directs Royce Cronin (King Rhydian the Rat), Toby Falla (Tomos the Cat), Phylip Harries (Sarah the Cook), Daniel Lloyd (Wally Fitzwarren), Alice McKenna (Scratch/Harriet), Peter Mooney (Dick Whittington), Lynwen Haf Roberts (Sultana), Emmy Stonelake (Alice Fitzwarren), Luke Thornton (Sniff/Tom/Guard) and Anna Westlake (Fairy Betty Bowbells). The production opens at Theatr Clwyd on 27 November, with previews from 23 November, and runs until 19 January 2019.

Broken Nose Theatre today announced two major leadership appointments. Associate Artistic Director Elise Marie Davis has been named the company's new Artistic Director, succeeding Founding Artistic Director Benjamin Brownson. In support of its commitment to theater for all, Trinity Repertory Company announces a series of moderately-adjusted performances of shows in the 2018-19 Season to meet the needs of audience members with autism and/or with sensory-processing disorders. Sensory-friendly performances will be identical to other performances of the run, but will feature a lantern placed discretely in the theater to let patrons know when a loud sound or intense lighting cue (such as strobe lights) is about to play, giving them the chance to close their eyes or block their ears. Tickets to Trinity Rep's sensory-friendly performances can be purchased as a subscription starting at $114 for all six plays or starting at $25 for single productions. Subscriptions are available now and non-subscription tickets will go on sale August 14, 2018.
