Signature Theatre [MAX Theatre]

A musical-loving banker sent to foreclose on a small-town theatre decides to revive it instead with the magic of the Follies, some slapstick comedy and a whole lot of charm. Flush with mistaken identities, a classic love story and 1930s glamour, Crazy for You radiates with playful humor and high-energy show-stopping numbers.

A wealth of Gershwin tunes including “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It” fuse with exhilarating tap numbers in this triumphant musical celebration.

BWW Review: Crazy For You, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at Trinity Rep
by Andria Tieman - Feb 15, 2017

Shakespeare can be a hard sell sometimes. His plays are long, they're frequently hard to understand, and often going to one seems like something you should do, rather than something you want to do. Well, Trinity Rep's production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM is the spoonful of sugar that makes the cultural medicine go down. Every detail of the sets and the costumes of this production is so well thought out that they create the perfect mashup of 1980's high school culture, which suits the storyline of the play to a T. After all, so many of Shakespeare's plays are about teenagers in love, why not set them at a prom in the 80's? Similar to Beowulf earlier this season, the cast and crew hold absolutely nothing back and this production is a cascade of color, glitter and Aqua Net with some excellent musical choices that need to be on their own mixtape.

by A.A. Cristi - Feb 7, 2017

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz, and Managing Director Greg Patterson today announced details of the 2017 Summer Performing Arts Conservatory.  In past years, the Conservatory for children and teens, held at the Addison Theatre Centre, was structured for students to present a fully-realized performance of a published play or musical at the end of the two-week program.  In the new restructured two-week Conservatory, students will be cultivating their skills in three intensive courses, each led by a different professional theatre artist. This training will offer a more well-rounded experience, and will provide the students with a strong artistic foundation that can be used in the classroom or on the professional stage. The students will also gain valuable interpersonal communication skills that will benefit their day-to-day lives.
