Children's Theatre Company (CTC) has announced the Minnesota premiere of Bob Marley's Three Little Birds running January 19 through March 1, 2020. This exuberant musical is based on a story by Cedella Marley (Bob Marley's daughter) with music and lyrics by Bob Marley, and adapted for the stage by Michael J. Bobbitt. The production is directed by Shá Cage, music direction by Sanford Moore, and choreography by Alanna Morris-Van Tassel. The cast includes Ellis M. Dossavi (Ziggy), KateMarie Andrews (Nansi), Kory LaQuess Pullam (Duppy), Lynnea Monique Doublette (Cedella), Nathan Barlow (Dr. Bird), and Timotha Lanae (Tacoomah). Poolside has just announced a major North American tour, their most profile headline trek thus far. The “LOW SEASON Tour” – which celebrates Poolside's eagerly awaited new album, LOW SEASON – begins April 24 at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR, and features stops at The Showbox in Seattle, WA, 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. and Tipitina's in New Orleans, LA before ending on May 23 at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ. In Shakespeare's Britain, on the twelfth night after Christmas, wild, raucous, and inclusive parties were enjoyed by many. Over-the-top, lasting until dawn, and full of food, drink, and festivity, barriers did not exist. On this one night secret affections could be declared (and sometimes explored). At least, that's what some historians tell us. Others question just how widespread such Twelfth Night festivals were. Regardless of historical accuracy, Shakespeare certainly used the tradition as an idea and theme for this play. He even included as part of the full title of the play the phrase “What You Will.”
