Producers Southpaw Entertainment (Richard Lewis, CEO) and CJ E&M (Byeong-seok Kim, Senior Vice President) announced today that August Rush, a new musical based on the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated 2007 motion picture, which starred Robin Williams and Freddie Highmore, will have a developmental lab presentation in December 2014.

Today we continue a special spotlight series highlighting the spectacular entertainment set to be presented this coming Monday, June 16, at Joe's Pub, THE LORD & THE MASTER: BROADWAYWORLD.COM SINGS THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER & STEPHEN SONDHEIM with a tribute to SWEENEY TODD.

The concert version of NERDS, a new Broadway-bound musical, tonight, Wednesday, June 11 at 54 Below, 254 W. 54th Street, is now sold out. The concert will feature a cast of Broadway favorites, including Theater World Award winner Wesley Taylor ("Smash," Rock of Ages), Helen Hayes Award winner Lauren Molina (Candide, Sweeney Todd), Charlie Pollock (Violet, Love's Labour's Lost), Laura Dreyfuss (Once, Hair).

Theatre Aspen's new play development series is underway, with the early workshopping of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater musical Alice By Heart, based on the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland this Saturday, May 31st, at the Wheeler Opera House at 7:30 pm. Director Lezlie Wade will remount her 2007 sold-out, smash hit production (which also launched Acting Up Stage as Toronto's go-to company for contemporary musical theatre) alongside an entirely new design team while reuniting most of the performers from this landmark production.

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb's Tony winning musical Cabaret, starring Tony Award-winner Alan Cumming and Golden Globe-winner Michelle Williams, begins previews tomorrow, Friday March 21. The New York Philharmonic will soon present a staged production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, March 5-8, 2014. As previously announced, Sweeney Todd will star bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in the title role and Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett in her Philharmonic debut, New York stage debut, and first time performing the role. Jeff Blumenkrantz will portray The Beadle; Tony Award winner Christian Borle, Pirelli (marking his Philharmonic debut); Kyle Brenn, Tobias Ragg (debut); Jay Armstrong Johnson, Anthony Hope (debut); Erin Mackey, Johanna (debut); and Olivier Award winner Philip Quast, Judge Turpin (debut and New York stage debut). Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct; Lonny Price will direct; and Lonny Price and Matt Cowart are the producers. BroadwayWorld brings you photos of the cast in rehearsal below!

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin tonight, February 18 to the 23rd, 2014 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater.

Speaking with The New York Times, Landless' producing artist director, Andrew Baughman, confirmed that Sondheim had given the company the go-ahead to stage a 'Prog Metal' edition of the famous musical at the Undercroft Theater this summer.
