La Jolla Playhouse will bring back the hilarious The Second City for a return engagement March 20 - 23, 2013 in the Playhouse's specially-designed cabaret-style performance space in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. Created by the Playhouse's scene shop artisans for the theatre's 2011, 2012 and 2013 Galas, this unique cabaret-style venue features a 1920s 'supper club' atmosphere, with multi-level platforms and custom banquettes. La Jolla Playhouse announces a fifth production for its 2013/14 season: the world premiere of The Tallest Tree, a new play with music written and performed by Daniel Beaty (Emergency, Through the Night), directed by Moises Kaufman (I Am My Own Wife, The Laramie Project). A co-production with Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Tallest Tree will run in the Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre October 9 - November 3, 2013.
