In 2019, Sierra Stages begins its second decade of presenting quality local theater in Grass Valley and Nevada City with three provocative shows: The legendary musical "Cabaret", the black comedy "Hand to God", and the intimate musical revue "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow: A Stephen Sondheim Evening".

Kick off the New Year with not one but FOUR acclaimed Karens of cabaret, joining forces onstage for the first time! "Everything's Coming Up Karens," slated for Friday evening, January 25, features performances by Karen Oberlin, Karen Mack, Karen Gross, and Karen Kohler, with musical direction by Tedd Firth. This one-night-only show at NYC's supper club and cabaret hotspot Beach Cafe is not to be missed. Dinner at 8 pm, showtime at 9:30 pm. The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of its legendary Musical Theatre program with a Birthday Cabaret at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 in Patricia Corbett Theater. Featuring the program's first graduate Pamela Myers, our newest stars of tomorrow and star performers from Broadway and beyond, the Birthday Cabaret promises to be a tuneful and invigorating tribute to 50 years of CCM Musical Theatre excellence.

HERE is thrilled to present Cabaret Fantastique, a culminating concert event featuring pianist Christopher O'Riley who performs his haunting solo piano arrangements of songs by Radiohead, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Elliott Smith, Portishead, and Sun Kil Moon. Master puppeteer and MacArthur "genius" Basil Twist and company members from Symphonie Fantastique will accompany O'Riley with new puppet work. The one-of-a-kind event will take place on August 19 at 7pm. Known to millions as the host of NPR's From the Top, O'Riley is currently performing live piano accompaniment for Basil Twist's Symphonie Fantastique, which continues performances at HERE until September 2.

The New York Pops hosts its annual cabaret fundraiser at Feinstein's/54 Below on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.(performance at 6:30 p.m.) starring Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Faith Prince. The event is hosted by New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke.

I had the extreme pleasure of attending Alan Cumming's Legal Immigrant, A Scottish American Cabaret, at the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts in Salina, KS, on May 11th, 2018. Mr. Cumming intimated this was only the second performance of the show, a two hour powerhouse performance, but if he had never told us, we wouldn't have known it. He was accompanied by a small combo - cellist Eleanor Norton, drummerguitarist Chris Jego, and pianist and musical director Lance Horne. Horne, by the way, is from Denver, where they opened their show May 9th. The following day they made their way to Salina, where Cumming gave a fun (and free with a purchased ticket) Q & A on Thursday, May 10th, at 7pm. Kudos to Michael Spicer and the Salina Community Theatre for arranging the event. Friends who attended remarked that Cumming was very gracious and had a wicked sense of humour. The afternoon off also gave cellist Norton time to shop at the local thrift shop, where she purchased a gorgeous full length and fully tailored gold smoking jacket, which she wore during the performance.

The Theater 14th Street Y & Bearded Ladies Productions present the 4th Y Cabaret, as part of the Theater/Dance Series curated at The Theater at The 14th Street Y, 344 E. 14th Street, NYC on March 24 & 25, 2018 at 8pm.The Y Cabaret is evening of drinks, dance, and food and features choreographers: Nicole Von Arx, Peter Cheng, Mei Yamanaka, Roya Carreras, Kristen Carcone, BAIRA (formerly BS Movement), and Princess Lockerooo, hosted by Clinton Edward.   Tickets are $20 in advance ($22 at the door) and are available at www.14streety.org/tickets.
