With electrifying dance at its core, FLASHDANCE- THE MUSICAL tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream.
FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL features a score that includes the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song "Flashdance- What a Feeling," "Maniac," "Gloria," "Manhunt," and "I Love Rock & Roll."
In addition to these hits, 16 brand new songs have been written for the musical with music by Robbie Roth and lyrics by Robert Cary and Robbie Roth.
FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL features a book by Tom Hedley (co-writer of the original screenplay), and Robert Cary with direction and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis).

The producers of the new musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY announced today that Benjamin Millepied has withdrawn from the production due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts and that, going forward, Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys) will assume musical staging responsibilities for the show. Producers of THE ADDAMS FAMILY announced additional dates today for the Fall 2012 leg of the musical's North American tour. The production will play Dallas (Oct. 2 - 21), Seattle (Oct. 24 - Nov. 11), Salt Lake City (Nov. 13 - 18), Las Vegas (Nov.20 - 25), Tempe (Dec. 11 - 16) and Costa Mesa (Dec. 18 - 30). Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today that flexible ticket packages including productions from the 2012/13 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis Season will go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, August 15 at 10 a.m. Shear Madness and Monty Python's Spamalot have been added as season specials as well as Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, a co-production in partnership with Theater Latte Da. Aida, directed by the acclaimed Peter Rothstein, which runs January 3-27, 2013 at the Pantages Theatre. Shear Madness will be at the Pantages, February 27-March 17, 2013 and Spamalot at the Orpheum Theatre, March 15-16, 2013.

The new musical FLASHDANCE, which was scheduled to play a pre-Broadway engagement in Toronto this summer, has announced a postponement of the Toronto engagement. The show's producers were planning on moving the production directly from Toronto to Broadway. Due to scheduling issues, the Broadway production has been postponed until the spring.
Thea Sharrock is to direct The Bodyguard, a new musical opening at the Adelphi Theatre in Autumn 2012 based on the Warner Bros. film of the same name with screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan. Starring Heather Headley as Rachel Marron and Lloyd Owen as Frank Farmer in the roles made famous on film by the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, tickets for The Bodyguard go on sale today (1 May 2012) taking bookings until 27 April 2013 for the production's first booking period. Previews begin on 6 November 2012, twenty years after the release of the Oscar nominated film. Opening night is 5 December.

Tennessee Performing Arts Center has announced the six Broadway titles visiting for its 2012-13 HCA/TriStar Broadway Series, plus two Broadway specials. In a presentation to season ticket holders, special guests, and press on Tuesday, President and CEO Kathleen O'Brien unveiled the new season, which will conclude in 2013 with a four-week run of the Tony Award®-winning hit Disney's The Lion King. The Nutty Professor, the Jerry Lewis-helmed musical based on his successful film comedy, takes up residence at the James K. Polk Theatre in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a July 24-August 19 run, ahead of the production's anticipated November 15 opening on Broadway.
