Broadway In Boston, announced today that tickets for the upcoming Boston engagement of FINDING NEVERLAND will go on sale to the public this Sunday, May 7th.  FINDING NEVERLAND will play a limited two week engagement at the Boston Opera House August 8-20, 2017 as part of the 2016-2017 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.

FINDING NEVERLAND is touring city to city teaching imagination and aviation.

With Love in Idleness currently running at its home base and soon to follow its production of Travesties at the Apollo Theatre, and with David Baddiel: My Family Not the Sitcom running in the West End, and Funny Girl on a major national tour, the Menier Chocolate Factory announces a casting update for its production of Peter Shaffer's Lettice and Lovage.

'I'm the greatest star, I am by far, but no one knows it' is the claim by aspiring vaudeville music show actress Fanny Brice at the top of Funny Girl.  Fanny is no ordinary showgirl- no 'Miss Atlantic City'. Her gift is to use that backstreet Brooklyn wit on the stage and tear up the rulebook set by the shows impresarios.

From the legendary Folies Bergere to the Ziegfeld Follies of Broadway to the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, the theatrical revue has been a staple of entertainment for well over 100 years. The McCallum pays tribute to these wonderful performers with its own Vaudeville variety show. The McCallum's Second Annual Tribute to the Follies stars John Davidson and Ann Hampton Callaway, and features The Olate Dogs, David & Dania, Mark Schiff, Henrik Bothe, and the Follies Dancers and Follies Orchestra.

It's been 80 years since Bessie Smith, the celebrated Empress of the Blues, died a lonely death, after an auto accident on a desolate Mississippi road. Contrary to legend, Smith did not bleed to death after being refused admission to a white Southern hospital. That story was related to Down Beat magazine by Columbia Records impresario John Hammond, who later apologized, saying that it was all based on hearsay. But her injuries were severe enough so that when she was taken to the nearest hospital (which happened to be one that accepted blacks), that she was beyond saving, and died at the young age of 43.

I had the chance to speak with local actor Travis Turner at Steppenwolf's Front Bar just before he began previews for BOOTYCANDY at Windy City Playhouse, in which he plays the lead role of Sutter. Over the past year, Turner has performed in The Second City's LONGER! LOUDER! WAGNER! parody at Lyric Opera, as well as TWIST YOUR DICKENS at Goodman Theatre, played the role of Avery in Annie Baker's three-hour-and-fifteen-minute long Pulitzer Prize winner THE FLICK at Steppenwolf, and portrayed one-half of a vaudeville duo as Thaddeus in THADDEUS AND SLOCUM at Lookingglass Theatre.

Rose Theatre Kingston today announces the cast for the world premiere of My Brilliant Friend, a two-part adaptation of Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan quartet of novels which have become a global literary sensation. 

Led by star Robert Creighton, the cast of Cagney celebrated a visit to the New York Stock Exchange on Friday December 30th to ring the closing bell. Cagney is the dramatic new musical that follows the life of the legendary James Cagney from the streets of New York to his rise as one of the brightest stars of Hollywood, from a vaudeville song-and-dance man to the cinema's original tough guy. Broadway's Robert Creighton, in the role he was born to play, joins the cast who tap dance through a score that blends original music with classic George M. Cohan favorites.

On Today, October 29 at 7:30pm, the American Showstopper series will celebrate the works of Frank Loesser whose astounding career as composer, lyricist, and librettist earned him the reputation as one of Broadway's most versatile writers.

Not even five and half feet tall, James Cagney's oversized talent catapulted him from scrappy Irish kid on the streets of New York to Hollywood legend on "the top of the world." A Vaudeville hoofer turned actor, Cagney made a splash on Broadway before Hollywood called and made him one of the Silver Screen's most iconic tough guys in legendary films including The Public Enemy, The G Men and White Heat.  But it was his turn as song and dance man George M. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy that earned him the Academy Award and forever cemented his place as one of America's most beloved movie legends alongside the likes of Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, Jimmy Stewart and Fred Astaire.
