The New Group has announced casting for it's revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, the second show of their 2009 - 2010 season. Directed by Ethan Hawke, the production will feature Josh Hamilton, Marin Ireland, Deirdre O'Connell, Alessandro Nivoloa, Maggie Siff and Frank Whaley. Additional casting to be announced very soon. The limited Off-Broadway engagement set to begin January 29, in advance of a February opening.

The New York Times is reporting that Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will star as sex columnist Dan Savage in The New Group's production of The Kid, a new musical based on Dan Savage's book The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant. The production will run as the the third show of The New Group's 2009 - 2010 season, however, no exact production dates have been announced. The New Group's world premiere of Kenneth Lonergan's play The Starry Messenger, at Theatre Row has extended one week. The production to now close on Saturday, December 19. The New Group is presenting the world premiere of The Starry Messenger as the first production in its 2009-2010 season. This production is playing a limited Off-Broadway engagement, that began previews on October 26 with an official opening night on November 23. The production was initially slated to close on December 12.
