BWW Review: AMADEUS at Conejo Players Theatre
by Cary Ginell - May 12, 2016

The grand rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his erstwhile mentor Antonio Salieri is mainly apocryphal, generated for dramatic effect by playwright Peter Shaffer in his 1979 play, 'Amadeus,' but the idea was, nevertheless, a brilliant one. Conejo Players Theatre has put on an opulent, emotionally charged production of Shaffer's poetically dramatic story, which was famously adapted for the Oscar-winning 1984 film starring F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce.

BWW Reviews: Crown City Theatre Produces Rarely Seen FOREIGNER by Larry Shue
by Don Grigware - Feb 24, 2014

Larry Shue's career as playwright/actor fell far too short with his sudden death in 1985. He had written two howlingly funny farces The Nerd and The Foreigner, both of which have become cult classics. Each farce exposes an eclectic group of people to a mishmash of insanity. There is an underdog at the center who fakes his identity, and as a result of this switch in role-playing, the total chaos which arises bears unexpected fruit and a major miracle or two for one and all. Now onstage at Crown City Theatre in NoHo, a superb ensemble of actors bring off The Foreigner with tremendous skill and gusto.

Lacy lingerie and lots and lots of sardines abound in the Clarence Brown Theatre season opener 'Noises Off' playing on the mainstage September 5-22, 2013. The two-time Tony nominated farce written by Michael Frayn looks at the follies of theatre people, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss and passionate affairs turns every performance into quite the adventure.
