The successful folk duo Indigo Girls are coming to the Kauffman Center on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m., as part of the 2019-2020 Kauffman Center Presents series.

Broadway and TV actor Frances Jue is currently starring in TheatreWorks' production of Julia Cho's 'The Language Archive.' Mr. Jue recently talked to BroadwayWorld about his lengthy and surprising career path, from his formative experiences with Stephen Sondheim and TheatreWorks to working with Tony winners David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori, and of course his continuing role on the CBS television series 'Madam Secretary.' The National Theatre has announced 15 productions of new plays and fresh adaptations by leading writers.

The famous British young adult author, Roald Dahl, fills his pages with chill and thrill inducing scenes that empower children to take themselves seriously and asks that very question of his readers. On the first May weekend, Minneapolis' Children's Theatre Company (CTC) opened a production that began in London and then travelled to Broadway in their opening of Matilda the Musical, an adaptation of Roald Dahl's famous 1988 young adult novel.

The Santa Fe Opera's General Director Robert K. Meya today announced repertory and casting for the company's exciting 64th Season in 2020. On the panel joining Meya for the announcement were the President of the Board of Directors Susan G. British novelist Roald Dahl possessed that rare quality in an author of children's books: the ability to captivate the imaginations of his young readers and simultaneously entertain their parents. His distinctive witty prose, dark humor, and eccentric characters are beloved worldwide: a daunting precedent for the Royal Shakespeare Company when it premiered the musical adaptation of MATILDA in 2010, with a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. Now, Drury Lane Theatre presents the regional premiere, directed and choreographed by Mitch Sebastian.

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that the Indigo Girls will be honored with the 2019 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts in recognition of their artistic achievements and advocacy at the theater's 23rd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, RI. The Westchester Symphonic Winds will continue its 31st Season with "Liberty and Equality," an uplifting concert at the Tarrytown Music Hall (13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY) on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. The program will include six moving and uplifting pieces for the wind ensemble, including a new arrangement of highlights from the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash hit musical, Les Miserables by band member, Barton Green. Seven soloists were selected through a vocal competition this past fall, who will be featured prominently in the medley. The winning soloists include: Jennifer Dapice, soprano; Emily Geller, mezzo; Jessica Bogart, mezzo; John Gomez, tenor; Brian Shaheen, tenor; Tommy Leo, tenor; and Bjorn Olsen, baritone. Dr. Joseph Higgins will guest conduct, leading the ensemble in a performance of Unquiet Hours by David Biedenbender. Westchester Symphonic Winds conductor, Maestro Curt Ebersole will lead the group in other works, including Lauds, by Ron Nelson; Suite Francais, by Darius Milhaud; Liturgical Dances, by David Holsinger; and The Hope Within, by Benjamin Dean Taylor. In celebration of her career as a dance critic, writer, dancer, choreographer and educator, From the Horse's Mouth will dedicate its next theater/dance performance event to Deborah Jowitt, whose lifelong accomplishments exemplify a storied career spanning more than 50 years.

The Classics Theatre Project's Artistic Director Joey Folsom today announced the Company's 2019 3-play season of all-American classics. The season starts with Neil Simon's comedy "Rumors" (March 7 - 31, 2019), followed by Tennessee Williams's "Summer and Smoke" (May 29-June 23, 2019), and concluding with Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" (dates TBA).
