The 24th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns benefit, held on Saturday March 27, honored famed director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Featured performers included actors from 'Football Strip' and Stimulus Package,' Broadway star Terri White, music artist Crystal Waters, pop singers Kristine W. and Kelly King, and drag queens Coco Peru and and Jesse Volt. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the celebration.

Performance dates, directors, initial casting and design team are set for the Cherry Lane Theatre's 12th annual Mentor Project - which includes the world-premiere of three plays by emerging writers: Ruth McKee's STRAY, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO) and mentored by David Henry Hwang, performing March 16th through March 27th; Nate Rufus Edelman's THE BELLE OF BELFAST, directed by Eric Tucker (CLOSER) and mentored by Charles Fuller, performing April 27th through May 8th; and Winter Miller's PATERNITY, mentored and directed by celebrated playwright Craig Lucas, performing May 18th through May 29th, all at the Cherry Lane Theatre Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street).

Following an acclaimed original sold-out run, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) proudly announces a limited return engagement of the company's recent World Premiere production of CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, the new hit play by Annie Baker ('An original voice' - Daily News; 'A playwright to know' - Newsday). Directed by Sam Gold ('A magic-fingered director' - Variety; 'An uncommonly observant eye and ear' - The New York Times), the original engagement opened Tuesday, October 13 to across-the-board rave reviews and was ultimately extended twice by critical and audience demand through Saturday, November 21. Producers, Jeffrey Seller and Kevin McCollum, will resurrect the infamous flop musical CARRIE for a 29-hour Equity of the musical that had a notoriously short 3 night, 5 performance run on Broadway in 1988. The CARRIE reading will take place today, Friday, November 20th. The hope is to bring 'Carrie' and her supernatural powers back to the Broadway stage.

Profiles Theatre Announces Final Extensions For MERCY SEAT And GRACELAND

Profiles Theatre announces the final extension of its two hit productions-the world premiere of Ellen Fairey's Graceland and the Midwest premiere of Neil LaBute's The Mercy Seat. Graceland was recently moved to the theatre space three doors down from Profiles (National Pastime Theater) to make way for Profiles' Midwest premiere of Neil LaBute's The Mercy Seat, playing at Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway.
