Legendary artist and activist, Joan Baez, will reissue three previous recordings—originally released on Gold Castle Records—as a special edition three-CD box set with extensive liner notes and additional material on April 7. The 30 collective tracks contained on Recently (originally released July 1987), Diamonds and Rust in the Bullring (recorded live in Bilbao, Spain, 1988, released April 1989) and Speaking of Dreams (November 1989) hold their own as some of the greatest song selection sequences of Joan's entire discography.

Studio Tenn and Tennessee Performing Arts Center's joint venture to produce Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita in Nashville resulted in the production claiming the top prize as "Outstanding Musical of The Year" at Sunday's Midwinter's First Night event at The Larry Keeton Theatre. Nashville Repertory Theatre's production of Nate Eppler's original play Good Monsters took the title of "Outstanding Play of The Year" in the annual ceremony that dates back to its origins in 1989.

Pushed to the brink, Carrie's powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

This fall, contemporary opera producer AMERICAN OPERA PROJECTS (AOP) will present COMPOSERS & THE VOICE: SIX SCENES 2016, a concert of opera scenes from ten artists emerging in the world of contemporary opera. Audiences will get a first look at six wildly different new works that range from imagining moments in the lives of famous people such as Sigmund Freud and Mabel Dodge Luhan or events taking place in a spaceship, an asylum, and a uterus. The composers Matthew Barnson, Carlos R. Carrillo, Nell Shaw Cohen, Marc LeMay, Cecilia Livingston, and Sky Macklay and librettists Edward Einhorn, Duncan McFarlane, Emily Roller, and Mark Sonnenblick, were chosen by AOP to spend a year creating new works in its bi-annual fellowship program Composers & the Voice (C&V).

When PE teacher, Miss Gardner (guest artist Morgan Kaupert), kind classmate Sue Snell (Jackie Cortina), and boyfriend Tommy Ross (Brendan Morrow) reach out to try and help Carrie, it seems that for once, Carrie might have a shot at being accepted. But Chris Hargensen (Cassidy D'Agostino), the class's most vicious bully, and Billy Nolan (Alex Kerry), her not-so-bright boyfriend, have other ideas. Pushed to the brink, Carrie's powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

UNDER THE SHADOW Selected As UK Foreign-Language Academy Award Entry

Babak Anvari's psychological thriller UNDER THE SHADOW has been selected as the United Kingdom's Foreign Language Academy Award entry for 2016. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and which has had an extensive festival run, will be released by Vertigo Releasing in the U.K. on September 23rd and by XYZ Films and Vertical in the U.S. on October 7th. Vertical Entertainment and XYZ Films are releasing the film theatrically in North America and globally on digital platforms.
