Irish Arts Center Announces Spring 2018 Season

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) announces the cast and creative team for Hamlet, directed by STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn and featuring acclaimed actor Michael Urie as the tortured Danish prince. Shakespeare's most celebrated tragedy will run January 16-February 25, 2018 at Sidney Harman Hall.

The Fab Faux are returning to New York City for a concert at the Beacon Theatre today, November 4 at 8 p.m., featuring The Hogshead Horns & The Cr me Tangerine Strings, performing The Beatles' 'No. 1 Album' in its entirety.

The Board of Trustees of the Morris Museum announced that it has elected a new member: Matthew H. Bruhn. The election took place at the October 3, 2017 meeting of the Board. In making the announcement, Gerri Horn, the Board's Chairman, said: It is a pleasure to welcome Matt to our Board. There is no doubt that his acumen in financial oversight, coupled with his long-standing respect and affection for the Morris Museum, will make him a most valuable Trustee.'?

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, Dennis LaBarre, current Chairman of the Board of The Cleveland Orchestra, will receive The Cleveland Orchestra's twenty-second annual Distinguished Service Award. The Musical Arts Association, the governing non-profit organization of The Cleveland Orchestra, established the annual Distinguished Service Award in 1996 to recognize ongoing and extraordinary service to the Orchestra. Mr. LaBarre will receive the award at the start of the Orchestra's Thursday evening concert at Severance Hall on October 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The 'Beyond All-Inclusive, Beyond All Compare' Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit announces the 2017 Wellness Getaway inclusive of industry leaders, healthy cooking classes, Spa Atelier workshops, juice therapy, therapeutic concerts, and sunrise yoga among other mindful wellness activities. Award-winning cookbook author, nutritionist and culinary instructor Robyn Webb will lead cooking demonstrations on sumptuous salads and versatile vegetarian dishes during the getaway. For those who can't make it to the resort, Webb has shared her Salade Niçoise recipe with fresh tuna, red peppers and a vinaigrette dressing to make at home.

Last summer, a group form the Ohio Humanities Council visited Piqua to consider it as one of their Ohio Chautauqua sites for 2017.  Unfortunately, they were not selected, but they did encourage the group to develop their own Chautauqua event.  Well, give folks from Piqua a challenge and they deliver.  So a dedicated committee officially began working on Piqua Chautauqua! The dates for this event will be September 19, 20 & 21, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will take place at Hance Pavilion, located in Fountain Park in Piqua.

HERE begins its 2017-2018 producing season with Stairway to Stardom, a world premiere Resident Artist production by Amanda Szeglowski / cakeface, commencing the 25th Anniversary of this award-winning, boundary-stretching institution. Stairway to Stardom, developed through the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP), will have 10 performances tonight, September 12, through September 23 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street), launching this milestone season.

Tony nominee Sydney Lucas leads the cast of Ray Nelson's new play Changeover or: How aliens from another galaxy invaded by my summer vacation. The invited readings are directed by Joel Kirk.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

Broadway's Kate Shindle---currently traveling the country playing Allison Bechdel in the first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME---is not only an accomplished singer, actor and dancer, she is also a published author and an outspoken activist. In 2015, Shindle was also elected president of Actors' Equity Association. But before FUN HOME makes its OC debut August 1 - 6 at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Shindle chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael L. Revenge thriller, ghost story, psychological drama, political epic, and family saga, all packed in one, with unforgettable characters, theatrical masterstrokes, and world-famous lines. The Prince of Denmark comes home from college to find his father dead, his mother remarried to his uncle, and a spine-chilling apparition roaming the palace grounds. Hamlet plays August 6 - September 10, 2017, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run August 6-11, with opening night on Saturday, August 12 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now to the general public.

From June 8 - 18, 2017, Houston Ballet caps its season with Stanton Welch's La Bayadere ('The Temple Dancer'), a historic classic set in royal India of the past.

Tomorrow night at Cumberland County Playhouse, the company, cast and crew unveil the 2017 model of Smoke on the Mountain, which marks the 24th year of the musical playing in Crossville. Weslie Webster directs and her cast includes Daniel W. Black and Lauren Marshall as Sanders family father and mother Burl and Vera.

Theater fills the Lackland Performing Arts Center as Centenary Stage Company announces its 2017 - 18 professional theater line-up.  The Sitnik Theatre is set to burst as this season's main stage professional theater series includes four exciting CSC produced plays; The Learned Ladies, Newsies, Art and Hitler's Tasters.  Centenary Stage Company's Fringe Festival also welcomes three incredibly unique guest productions; Song and Dance Men, Seeger: A Multimedia Solo Show and My Name is Gideon: I'm Probably Going to Die, Eventually as the festival returns for its third installment in the Kutz Theatre.
