Kansas City Repertory Theatre will open its 50th anniversary celebration with the Kansas City premiere of David Cromer's Our Town, an enduring American story which examines the everyday lives of an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century. Our Town, one of the greatest American plays written by Thornton Wilder, the three-time Pulitzer prize-winning playwright and novelist will be directed by David Cromer, MacArthur Foundation 'genius' grant recipient and director of KC Rep's 2009 production of The Glass Menagerie which received national and local critical acclaim. This co-production with UMKC Theatre will feature redesigned seating at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus. The show will run September 5 through 28th. Repertory Philippines (Rep) production of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize-winning play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, written by Tracy Letts, will run from Friday, February 21 to Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Onstage Theatre (2/F Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas corner Legazpi St., Makati City).
Jean Doumanian Productions, producers of August Osage County, will produce the upcoming film adaptation of Nic Pizzolatto's acclaimed novel Galveston, featuring a screenplay adapted by Pizzolatto himself. Janus Metz is set to direct. Matthias Schoenaerts, who starred in Bullhead and in Rust and Bone (for which he won the 2012 Cesar Award for Most Promising Actor), will lead the cast as 'Roy.' (The character of 'Rocky,' the female lead, has yet to be cast.) Shooting is planned to commence in Spring, 2014.

Superior Donuts, by Tracy Letts, author of the Pulitzer Prize winning play August: Osage County, opens the new season at The Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan. The play debuted in Chicago in 2008 at Steppenwolf Theatre Company then moved to Broadway in 2009 and now it will make its Michigan debut at the Purple Rose. The comedy-drama is set in a Chicago donut shop and is about the unlikely friendship of the owner, Arthur, and his new employee. The esteemed actor Randolph Mantooth plays Arthur.
