Broadway rocker Justin Matthew Sargent, best known for his star turn as 'Drew' in Broadway's Rock of Ages, has landed the coveted role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man role in SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. Sargent will play evening performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) beginning Monday, September 16.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, earlier this month, Daniel Curry, an actor from SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was tragically injured during a performance of the accident-plagued Broadway musical. On August 15, the performance was halted and audience members sent home after a piece of equipment pinned an actor's leg underneath it, causing the injury. According to the New York Times, Curry remains at Bellevue Hospital, where he just had his third foot surgery.

Actors' Equity Association 'Deeply Concerned' About SPIDER-MAN Accident

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, last night, Daniel Curry, an actor from SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was tragically injured during a performance of the accident-plagued Broadway musical. At 9:08 PM the performance was halted and audience members sent home after a piece of equipment pinned an actor's leg underneath it, causing the injury, according to the FDNY, who were called and acted as first responders to the incident. Actors' Equity Association released the following statement on the acciednt:

This morning, Spider-Man on Broadway spokesperson Rick Miramontez tells BroadwayWorld.com that 'Last night's performance of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark was cancelled due to technical difficulties that were discovered during pre-set. The problem has been resolved and performances of Broadway's most technologically ground-breaking show will resume as scheduled beginning with today's matinee. '

Audience reports began to filter in earlier on the BroadwayWorld Message Boards, and to the BWW News Desk about tonight's performance of Spider-Man having been canceled shortly before showtime. The producers have now released word via the official Spider-Man on Broadway Blog with information on refunds and exchanges. Ticket buyers tell us that the official explanation given was computer malfunctions related to the show's many automated special effects. There's no official word yet about the show on Wednesday.

Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is doing its part to support New York's critically ill and injured children at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children, the City's only long-term rehabilitation hospital for children and the region's largest provider of home healthcare to children with medically complex conditions. Throughout the month of June, when guests buy Spider-Man tickets through Givenick, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children.

Out of her grief, she started the Angels Fund charity, which helps comfort grieving parents who have lost a child.
