The Majestic Theatre announced its line-up of shows for the 2019-2020 North Park Lexus Broadway in San Antonio Season. Pop-culture phenomenon DEAR EVAN HANSEN and Disney's ALADDIN anchor the season with eight performances of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, December 17-22, 2019, and a three-week run of ALADDIN, March 25 April 12, 2020. With eight productions, the season includes a mixture of Blockbuster Tony Award -winners, acclaimed revivals, four market premieres and beloved family favorites.

Nearly 90 years ago, on the final Saturday in 1929, a group of 51 men and women took the stage at Central High School and gave Grand Rapids the best Christmas present of all, the gift of music.

Opera Columbus and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra are partnering to co-produce and co-commission a new chamber opera titled The Flood - a story of loss, human tragedy and redemption set in Columbus. The work represents the first collaboration between the two arts organizations, as well as ProMusica's 67th commissioned work and Opera Columbus' first commission of a new mainstage opera in nearly 20 years.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Music Director Louis Langree announced details of the much-anticipated 125th Anniversary Season beginning in September at Music Hall. The 2019-20 season welcomes acclaimed guest artists including Renee Fleming, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Artist-in-Residence Guy Braunstein and Grammy winner Isabel Leonard, among others. The season includes performances of Beethoven's legendary Akademie program, a fully staged production of Ravel's opera, L'Enfant et les sortileges, seven CSO commissions, five world premieres, three U.S. premieres, as well as an experimental new concert series titled CSO Proof. The 125th Anniversary Season marks the launch of new initiatives both on and off the stage that build on the CSO's legacy. Leading up to the season, the Orchestra presents CSO Look Around, a first-of-its-kind event celebrating community, diversity, and inclusivity on August 3.

The El Capitan Theatre puts a spotlight on its historic Mighty Wurlitzer Organ and its award winning house organist with a special concert by Rob Richards, TO DISNEY WITH LOVE, celebrating his twentieth anniversary as the El Capitan Theatre's house organist.  Richards has played this spectacular instrument at the landmark Hollywood movie palace since its installation in 1999.

The Music Conservatory of Westchester announces four in-depth musical experiences as its new Musical Masters Lecture Series begins on Sundays at 2 PM during spring 2019. Open to the public, the Conservatory's lecture series will include insight from experts Michael Boriskin, Mark Morganelli, Andrew Armstrong, and Elliott Forrest on the topics of Chamber Music, Brazilian Jazz, Musical Storytelling, and Film Music, respectively.

Guest conductor Peter Oundjian conducts Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) in a blockbuster program featuring a world premiere by LACO's 2018-19 Sound Investment composer Sarah Gibson; Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17 performed by pianist Jonathan Biss; Beethoven's iconic Symphony No. 5; and Seeger's Andante for Strings, on Saturday, January 26, 8 pm, at Glendale's Alex Theatre, and Sunday, January 27, 2019, 7 pm, at Royce Hall. Oundjian, the "consistently illuminating" (Gramophone) former music director of both the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Royal National Orchestra in Scotland, made his LACO debut in 2015 and most recently appeared with the Orchestra in fall 2017. Biss, who "will surely take his place among the greats" (BBC Music Magazine), is widely regarded for his artistry and deeply felt interpretations, winning international recognition for his orchestral, recital, and chamber music performances as well as for his award-winning recordings. He last appeared with LACO in 2015.

Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance will present Street Scene, an American opera based on the 1929 Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name by Elmer Rice, on Jan. 8, 10, 12 and 13 in Varner Recital Hall on OU's campus. 

Firebrand singer Louise Distras has released her new single, 'Poor Man', the second track to be taken from her upcoming EP, Street Revolution, out January 11th.

Hartford Opera Theater will offer New in November 9, a collection of short operas and opera excerpts. This opera festival will play Sunday, November 18 (7pm) at The Cathedral House at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT. The shows scheduled for 2019 extend Seinfeld's overwhelmingly successful residency at The Beacon, which began in January 2016 and concluded in December 2017 with 36 sold-out performances. The 2019 dates are as follows: January 11, February 8, March 14, March 15, April 4, April 5, May 3, May 4, June 6 and June 7, with performances at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on all ten nights. Tickets will go on-sale on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. (EST).

The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation proudly presents the 8th SATCHMO Award to: jazz vocalist and songwriter Ms. Sheila Jordan. The Hungarian State Opera (HSO), one of the world's busiest opera companies, comes to the United States this fall for the first time ever, presenting four operas by Hungarian composers, including two U.S. premieres, at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater, October 30 to November 3. This week of opera is followed by another week of performances presented by the Hungarian National Ballet, November 6 to 11, as well as an opera and ballet gala on November 4 and the Carnegie Hall debut of the HSO Orchestra on November 5. These U.S. performances build upon the HSO's rich history of touring, which stretches back 100 years and includes performances in numerous European capitals including Amsterdam, Helsinki, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Vienna, and in countries including Canada, China, Egypt, Japan (ten times), Mexico, Taiwan, and Peru. Ongoing renovations to the Hungarian State Opera House have presented an opportunity for increased touring this season, including the chance to introduce American audiences to the company and its repertoire, much of it rarely seen or heard.

FotoFocus, the Cincinnati-based non-profit arts organization that champions photography and lens-based art, is proud to announce new programming details for the fourth FotoFocus Biennial-the largest biennial of its kind in America. The FotoFocus Biennial takes place this October, across more participating venues than ever, spanning over 80 museums, galleries, and universities across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, and Columbus, Ohio, and featuring over 250 artists, curators, and educators.

From Friday, July 20 through Thursday, July 26, BAMcinématek presents Pioneers: First Women Filmmakers in collaboration with Kino Lorber and The Library of Congress. A follow-up to its award-winning Pioneers of African-American Cinema, this collection was produced for Kino Lorber by Bret Wood and curated by historian Shelley Stamp. The series presents a vast array of new 2K restorations, focusing primarily on women directors of the silent-era American cinema. As was frequently the case, women directors remained uncredited or were co-credited as director, even though for all intents and purposes, they were the de-facto directors and primary creative forces of the film. “Women played an extraordinary role in early filmmaking, but this history has been largely forgotten,” says series curator Shelley Stamp, 'I'm so thrilled that these films have been restored and re-scored so that contemporary audiences will have a chance to see what female filmmakers were up to 100 years ago.” Stamp will be present to introduce the first four programs in the series.

The York Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the new musical Lonesome Blues, based on the true story of legendary bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson, created by Alan Govenar (Texas in Paris) and Akin Babatunde (Blind Lemon Blues), directed by Katherine Owens (How Is It That We Live or Shakey Jake + Alice), performed by Akin Babatunde with David Weiss on guitar.  Performances begin TOMORROW, June 12, 2018 for a three-week limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

Theatre in Our Schools (TIOS) Month is a campaign to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs for all students. While activities may take place any time, March is designated the official month for TIOS.

Continuing the momentum created with the current season launch of its Music Knows No Borders series, Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2018-19 Season, which features four world premieres, two American premieres, several of the world's greatest orchestras, innovative jazz programs, two tributes to Hollywood legends, Broadway classics plus artists from 18 different nations who will appear on stage at The Soraya next season.  New Subscription Series tickets will go on sale May 1, 2018.

Boston Ballet's 2017-2018 season concludes with La Sylphide, a program showcasing Danish choreographer August Bournonville's romantic and tragic tale of La Sylphide and Bournonville Divertissements, a series of excerpts from his classic works. This program runs May 24-June 10, 2018, at the Boston Opera House.

Boston Ballet Presents CLASSIC BALANCHINE, an array of iconic and diverse works by esteemed choreographer George Balanchine. The program opens with Balanchine's allegorical Prodigal Son, a powerful tale of sin and redemption, followed by the return of Stravinsky Violin Concerto, a tribute to his friendship and frequent collaborations with the celebrated composer. The Company premiere of Balanchine's dreamlikeChaconne concludes the program. Classic Balanchine runs May 17–June 9, 2018, at the Boston Opera House.
