A new musical, A JOURNEY OF ANGELS, is currently in development with a theatrical workshop planned for June 2019 in Los Angeles. The musical features a book by Brent Beerman, music and lyrics by Kathi Chaplar and directed by Kay Cole. Additional information about the workshop will be announced at a later date.

Once More Theatre is proud to announce its Spring Production of Wet, Or Isabella the Pirate Queen Enters the Horse Latitudes. This small company created by students and Peggy Mecham, started as the official theatre company of Community College of Philadelphia and is now delighted to be the resident theatre company of Plays ad Players Theatre. Once More Theatre has produced some of the most unusual and forgotten theatrical works to great critical success, including The Gas Heart, R.U.R., Everyman, Plutus, The Insect Play and Pigs among others. The OMT mission is to produce performances, both on stage and on film, that invite audiences to investigate rarely explored and original works. The company focuses on fostering young actors from diverse backgrounds and building an ensemble ready to tackle some of the most challenging plays that exist.

Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) in Pompano Beach presents Tamiami Trail: In the Beginning, an exhibition of original artworks by members of the Miami-based Tropical Botanic Artists collective. The exhibit will be on view in the West Gallery/Blooming Bean Coffee Roasters from April 5, 2019 through May 31, 2019. The free opening reception is Friday, April 5, 6pm-10pm during Old Town Untapped.

In a production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, St John Ervine's 1913 drama Jane Clegg opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week limited season on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 (Press Nights: Thursday, 25 April 2019 and Friday, 26 April 2019 at 7.30pm).

Asolo Repertory Theatre and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training have announced their 2019-20 seasons on March 25.

Acclaimed Jazz harpist-pianist-vocalist Corky Hale will present a 102nd Birthday Show honoring Billie Holiday on Thursday, April 6, at 7:30 PM, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood. Hale is one of the few people still performing who was actually a close friend of Holiday's, playing for her on the 'Stars of Jazz' TV show, and on several recordings and live appearances, and was the only female pianist to regularly accompany her.

On Monday, April 22, in celebration of T Magazine's annual culture issue, BAM and T present an evening of dramatic readings which look five years into our country's future.

Asolo Repertory Theatre will proudly present the world premiere of KNOXVILLE in spring 2020. This moving and innovative musical will feature lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty and will be adapted and directed by Frank Galati, reuniting the dynamic Tony Award-winning creative team behind Ragtime, one of the most beloved musicals of all time. KNOXVILLE is based on James Agee's Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical novel A Death in the Family and based, in part, on the play All The Way Home by Tad Mosel.  

Winner of Best Fringe Theatre in the 2019 Stage Awards, The Barn Theatre is delighted to present its line-up of five in-house productions for the upcoming 2019 Season, including one of Michael Morpurgo's finest works, The Butterfly Lion, William Shakespeare's classic history, Henry V, a brand new production of the comic thriller, The 39 Steps, the award-winning musical Daddy Long Legs and a reimagining of Charles Dickens' festive masterpiece, A Christmas Carol.

Russian-American violinist Yevgeny Kutik, known for his “dark-hued tone and razor-sharp technique” (The New York Times), will launch a new commissioning and recording project titled Meditations on Family in 2019. Kutik has commissioned eight composers to translate a personal family photo into a short musical miniature for violin and various ensemble. He envisions the project as a living archive of new works inspired by memories and tradition. The first recording will be released on January 18, 2019, with one new piece coming out each Friday, and the full EP to be released on March 8, 2019, on Marquis Classics. The recordings were produced by four-time Grammy winner Jesse Lewis.

REDCAT, CalArts' downtown center for contemporary arts, is pleased to present the World Premiere of Herb Alpert Award-winning choreographer David Rousseve's newest work, Halfway to Dawn, for four performances from Thursday, October 4 through Sunday, October 7, 2018. Written, choreographed and directed by Rousseve, this vibrant dance-theatre work will be performed by his wildly diverse nine-member company REALITY. Halfway to Dawn illuminates the story of African American jazz composer Billy "Sweet Pea" Strayhorn. Relatively unknown, Strayhorn was Duke Ellington's main arranger/writing partner, instrumental to the creation of a vastly important body of work in American music history. Gay, out, and living in Harlem in the 1940's-60's, Strayhorn chose to lead a remarkably private life, allowing Ellington to take the spotlight and much of the credit for their joint oeuvre. The arranger/composer was also a passionate activist involved in civil rights causes (and a committed friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.). The core of Halfway to Dawn is Strayhorn's music as interpreted through a dynamic dance vocabulary melding jazz, modern/postmodern, and social dance forms. A surreal sonic design by d. Sabela grimes surrounds vintage recordings of Strayhorn's songs, while video art by Cari Ann Shim Sham* gives the production a rich visual dynamic. In 1893, social work and public health pioneer Lillian Wald (1867-1940) founded Henry Street Settlement on Manhattan's Lower East Side to serve New York City's most vulnerable people through social service, healthcare, and arts programs. Since that day, Henry Street Settlement has been a crucial force for progressive reform and a leading advocate for social change, serving 60,000 New Yorkers each year. 

The British Museum lent 2,200 objects to 81 venues outside the UK from Toledo, Ohio to Hobart, Australia. In November, India and the World, a history in nine stories opened at CSMVS in Mumbai. Supported by the Getty Foundation and Tata Trusts, this is the first exhibition of its kind, a collaborative partnership between CSMVS, the National Museum of Delhi and the British Museum. Indian objects were selected from collections across India and the British Museum provided global objects to show the interconnectivity of India to the world throughout the centuries. The exhibition received over 200,000 visitors in Mumbai and has recently opened in Delhi.

Bernard Shaw's celebrated humour is featured in his farcical and funny anti-war O'Flaherty V.C. Directed by Kimberley Rampersad, O'Flaherty V.C. comically reveals why the men of Ireland really went to war. This season's Lunchtime one-act begins previews on May 31 at the Royal George Theatre.

Written by Emmy Award nominated TV writer, producer, and playwright, Marco Ramirezbrings forth a vocabulary in The Royale that expresses the narrative through physical motion and percussion. The Royale, sponsored in part by Robert Paul & Margaret Kennedy, will be performed in the Outcalt Theatre from May 5th - May 27th under the direction of CPH Associate Artistic Director Robert Barry Fleming.
