Woody Allen's stage musical based on his Academy Award-winning film - a hilarious and high stepping homage to both the gangster films and movie musicals of the 1930's - will be staged for the first time by a Chicago company when NightBlue Performing Arts opens its production of the musical on Monday, September 11, following previews from Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 10.  Press opening is Monday, September 11 at 7:30 pm. BULLETS OVER BROADWAY will run through Sunday, October 8 at Stage 773, 1225 W. In a new production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre and continuing their rediscovery of James Bridie, one of the West End's most successful dramatists of the 1930s and 1940s, the first London production since its 1950 premiere of Mr Gillie runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 25 June 2017 (Press Night: Monday, 26 June 2017 at 7.30pm).

In a new production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre and continuing their rediscovery of James Bridie, one of the West End's most successful dramatists of the 1930s and 1940s, the first London production since its 1950 premiere of Mr Gillie runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 25 June 2017.

Cabaret, one of the great Broadway musicals of all time, opened to a packed house at Theatre at the Center (TATC) in Munster on opening night on May 7. The show continues through June 4. BroadwayWorld has photos from the opening festivities below!

This May, in celebration of Frank Lloyd Wright's 150th anniversary, UNESCO World Heritage List-nominated Hollyhock House presents a J.U.S.T. Toys Production in association withCircle X Theatre Co. of a very unique immersive event, FEFU AND HER FRIENDS, written by Maria Irene Fornes, with choreography by Zsofia Nemes, musical composition by Daniel Szabo and directed by Kate Jopson. FEFU AND HER FREIENDS is the first play EVER to be performed at the iconic house, which is located in the heart of Barnsdall Art Park, a vibrant, artistic and recreational destination. With just 20 guests admitted to each of the 12 performances, attendees will enjoy a truly intimate front row experience at the play, which previews on Thursday, May 4; with a press opening on Friday, May 5 at 8pm and runs through Sunday, May 28 (4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, 90027).

Last night, Co-Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Wu Han, announced the seventh season of the society's residency at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance from the stage. The 2017-2018 CMS season promises a revolving multi-generational and international roster of the world's finest chamber musicians which enables CMS to continue to present chamber music of every instrumentation, style, and historical period.

Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates Black History Month with THE DEVIL'S MUSIC: THE LIFE AND BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, starring singer and actress Miche Braden of the original Off-Broadway production (named one of the 10 Best Off-Broadway productions of the year by the N.Y. Daily Times). Described by CBC as a, "bawdy, bluesy, boozy rollicking night out at the theatre," the show follows the life, loves and career of blues and jazz singer Bessie Smith, called the "Empress of the Blues." 

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced casting for the Encores! production of The New Yorkers, Cole Porter's 1930 Prohibition lark. The New Yorkers will star Cyrille Aimee, Clyde Alves, Todd Buonopane, Arnie Burton, Kevin Chamberlin, Mylinda Hull, Robyn Hurder, Byron Jennings, Eddie Korbich, Tam Mutu, Jeffrey Schecter, Scarlett Strallen, Tyler Lansing Weaks and Ruth Williamson.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will present "Waiting for Lefty", which will be the first play directed by new Artistic Director Michael Bradford. 

United Palace, the former Loew's 175th Street Theatre which opened in 1930, kicks off a year-long classic movie series celebrating the building's past as a "Wonder Theatre" and its state-of-the-art cinematic return with a DCP projector donated by Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda, and new audio equipment.

On Sunday, February 19, the Tony Award nominated actress will play Polly Baker in Manhattan Concert Productions' one-night only 25th anniversary performance of Crazy for You at Lincoln Center.

The Metropolitan Opera's 2017-18 season will feature 220 performances of 26 works, including two Met premieres, one co-commissioned by the company and one an older masterpiece having its first Met performances; a variety of repertory favorites, three in new productions; and performances of Verdi's towering concert work for soloists, orchestra, and chorus, the Requiem. Of note, Broadway star Kelli O'Hara is set to return to the Met in Così fan tutte this season.

Undermain Theatre Presents GALILEO, Bertolt Brecht's masterpiece, which he translated in English in collaboration with Charles Laughton.  GALILEO will be produced at Undermain's home in Deep Ellum - 3200 Main St. with company member Bruce DuBose in the title role.  DuBose is a recipient of Best Actor awards from the Dallas Critics Forum, D Magazine and the Dallas Observer.  Directed by Undermain's Artistic Director, Katherine Owens, opening night will be Today, February 11th with a curtain time of 7:30 pm.  Preview performances will be on February 8th, 9th, and 10th at 7:30 pm. All preview performances are only $15. All evening show times are 7:30 pm with two Sunday matinee performances at 2:00 pm on February 19th and March 5th.  The production will run through March 5th.

That spunky waif has been part of our American culture for more than 130 years. She was first penned into existence by poet James Whitcomb Riley in 1885. His poem, 'Little Orphant Annie',was inspired by Mary Alice 'Allie' Smith, an orphaned child who came to live in the Riley home.

Immersive theatre company Deaths Head Theatrical's Off-Broadway production CURIOUSITIES begins performances tonight, December 8. The immersive production takes over a secret location in the Theatre District and coverts it into a underground 1930's sideshow. The Broadway League has announced that Todrick Hall, now starring in Kinky Boots, will serve as a National Ambassador for the 2017 KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY, taking place in New York City on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017.
