City Theatre Hosts South Side Block Party THE BASH

City Theatre is excited to announce the details of The Bash, a benefit evening for the South Side theatre company, entering its 45th season. The Bash is taking over Bingham Street for a block party like no other. Pop-up performances, signature cocktails, food trucks, and an outdoor dance party will fill its multi-location cultural campus located between 13th and 14th Streets.

The World Premiere Of LOTTERY DAY Concludes Ike Holter's Seven-Play Saga

"Not everyone will go home a winner" in Goodman Theatre's world-premiere production of Lottery Day by Ike Holter, which appears through April 28 in the Owen Theatre. Holter concludes his seven-play "Rightlynd Saga"-the first play of which premiered five years ago, and has been hailed as "one of the most significant literary achievements in modern-day Chicago" (Chicago Tribune)-with a raucous theatrical bash, directed by Chicago native Lili-Anne Brown. Commissioned by the Goodman and developed through its New Stages Festival of new plays, Lottery Day takes place in a Rightlynd backyard where new characters and returning characters from the saga come together to create a work about the cost of belonging and the gift of community. Lottery Day appears through April 28 in the Owen Theatre.

Shooter Jennings has released his new song, 'Denim & Diamonds.' A song whose sound gives the listener the sense that it's been a classic for decades, 'Denim & Diamonds' is a dark and smoky acoustic guitar and bass-driven paean to the late 80s/early 90s line dancing culture that thrived in dive clubs across the country and the people in his life who lived to go out and simply dance the night away. It was a scene he judged harshly while growing up, yet now looks back on with fondness as he reflects upon the carefree days of youth, wondering where the people who partied in these clubs are today.
