54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents The Cast of SIDE SHOW Reunites in "ADDED ATTRACTIONS" on Monday, March 9. Actors and musicians from the recent Broadway revival of SIDE SHOW come back together to perform some favorites from the show, songs cut or never used and new arrangements of some familiar numbers.

The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival 2015 season will feature a slate of top-notch directors, choreographers, musical directors and designers. The flagship theatre, the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, will house West Side Story, The Light in the Piazza (Regional Premiere), Saturday Night Fever (US Regional Premiere), Sweeney Todd, the all new The Calamari Sisters' Big Fat Italian Wedding, and the first ever holiday show at the Playhouse -- Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings. The season also brings the hilarious comedy, Late Nite Catechism, downtown to Auburn Public Theater. And for the fourth consecutive year, the new-works series, The PiTCH, returns with new writing teams from all over the country presenting their new musicals in development. The PiTCH will run from June 11 - August 1.

If you've been a regular reader of this particular reviewer's musings, you know that every year there are long stretches of time where I just haven't been able to critique all the shows I've seen that deserve commentary. So I end up playing what they call in sports, 'Catch-up ball,' and post a mash up of belated reviews from past shows. It's kind of like a critic's version of the song 'Six Months Out of Every Year,' from Damn Yankees. Give or take a month or two, that's usually the time period during which I store unpublished reviews in my fevered brain and then unload them all in one seemingly endless column-like this one is going to be. If my cabaret-show reviewing days will be over (as chronicled here), I might as well go out with a bang-and relieve my procrastination guilt during holiday season. Now I can scratch one New Year's resolution off the list.

Broadway stalwart Jeff McCarthy joins the all-American cast of the Broadway musical CHICAGO, which is set to play Solaire Resort and Casino's The Theatre from next Wednesday, December 3, to Sunday, December 21. McCarthy will play the role of criminal lawyer Billy Flynn, alongside Bianca Marroquin's Roxie Hart, Terra C. MacLeod's Velma Kelly, Jacob Keith Watson's Amos Hart, Roz Ryan's Matron 'Mama' Morton, and C. Newcomer.

Today, the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's hit musical Chicago will become Broadway's second longest-running show, right behind THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. With 7,486 performances, it surpasses CATS, which played 7,485 performances.

Prior to the show's opening on Broadway at the St. James Theatre, the creative team behind the innovative revival of the musical Side Show - director Bill Condon, composer Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), librettist/ lyricist Bill Russell and scenic designer David Rockwell - visited THEATER TALK to share stories about the remarkable revitalization the 1997 musical has experienced under the stewardship of Condon on its return this fall to Broadway.

Jekyll & Hyde opened on Broadway in 1997, with 1543 performances over four years and was nominated for four Tony Awards. A local production of that time honored tale opens at Star Playhouse at the Suffolk Y-JCC tonight, November 8.

La Jolla Playhouse announces five shows for its 2015/2016 season, featuring all new works, including the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by acclaimed Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley; the world premiere of Indecent, co-created by director Rebecca Taichman (Playhouse's Sleeping Beauty Wakes, Milk Like Sugar), and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive), co-produced with Yale Repertory Theatre; and Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin, by Michael Benjamin Washington (Memphis, The Wiz), directed by The Cosby Show's Phylicia Rashad, which had its first workshop during the Playhouse's 2014 DNA New Work Series.

Act3 Productions presents Side Show, a heart-warming story of two sisters searching for love and fame. Side Show will run November 7- 23 at Act3 Productions in Sandy Springs. Inspired by the true story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, the musical touches on the universal need for acceptance and the strength of the human spirit. Signature Theatre presents Elmer Gantry, a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre today, October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006.

Producers have announced that the limited engagement of PAGEANT will host a special Miss America night in honor of our nation's top beauty pageant, The 88th Annual Miss America Pageant, on Sunday, September 14. For the Sunday, September 14 at 7:30pm performance, all audience members, both male and female, who arrive in their best pageant attire will receive half-priced tickets, available on a first-come-first-served basis beginning one hour prior to curtain at The Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street).
