Midtown International Theatre Festival Announces 43 Selections for 10th Anniversary Season

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) announces selections for the 2009 Season, running from July 13 - August 2, 2009. 43 plays and musicals have been chosen, as well as four readings. Selected plays for SHORT SUBJECTS, a new division for plays that run under 60 minutes, will be announced at a later date. Baltimore's newest gang of artists, Nine Imaginary Cows Theater Collective, presents a brand-spanking-new work for the stage: There Have Been Other Men in My Wife's Bed (A Marital Arrangement for 3 Actors), running February 26 through March 7 at Theatre Project (45 West Preston Street, Baltimore). Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8pm for both weeks, with a special 7pm performance on Sunday, March 1. Ticket prices are $20 for General Admission, $15 for Seniors and Artists, and $10 for Students. Producer Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group and co-producers Tulchin/Bartner/Jenkins, Bill Kenwright, Northwater Entertainment, Darren Bagert, and Tom Gregory announced the complete cast and design team for the new Broadway production of the greatest musical comedy GUYS AND DOLLS. The first joint Broadway project by two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo since their collaboration on the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys, GUYS AND DOLLS will begin previews on February 3, 2009 at Broadway's newly refurbished Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Emmy Award winner Richard Thomas in Blanche and Beyond September 24-26, 2008 in the Terrace Theater. The one-man show is adapted and directed by Steve Lawson from the correspondences of Tennessee Williams between 1945 and 1957, and is a sequel to A Distant Country Called Youth, staged during the Center's Tennessee Williams Explored festival in 2004. This production is part of Prelude 2008: Arts Across America. Language and content for Blanche and Beyond is intended for mature ages, high-school age and above.
