As the recent recipient of international critical acclaim as well as six Tony Awards, John Logan's drama, "Red," has brought the artist Mark Rothko out of the museums and onto stages across the country. Soon to be produced by Performance Network Theatre, "Red" chronicles two years in the life of Rothko, as he works feverishly on the then highest paid commission in history, for New York's Four Seasons Restaurant. In conjunction with the production, PNT and the Ann Arbor District Library are teaming up to bring community members a deeper look at Rothko's famed commission as well as his other life's works. Grant Mandarino, from the UM History of Art department, will be presenting a free lecture on Tuesday, May 8, from 7:00-8:30pm. The event will take place at Performance Network Theatre.
THE LAST FIVE YEARS is a contemporary musical that chronicles the five year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up. The song and tap extravaganza 42nd STREET previews March 30th, opens April 10th and runs through May 29th at the Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL. The Broadway production of 42nd STREET won the Tony Award for Best Musical and Choreography in 1980, and Best Revival in 2001. The Marriott Theatre's production will feature Direction and Musical Staging by 2010 Jeff Award winner Rachel Rockwell, Choreography by 2010 Jeff Award winner Tammy Mader, with Musical Direction by multi-Jeff Award winner Doug Peck.

So far as I can tell, the best way to handle the situation - on Monday night, March 28, five of Nashville's most talented young divas aka Cori Laemmel, Erin Parker, Laura Matula, Megan Murphy Chambers and Melodie Madden Adams will be performing a cabaret entitled FIVE - is to send five other young divas (I'd suggest sequestering Laura Thomas Sonn, Heather Trabucco, Stacie Riggs, Jennifer Richmond and Erica Haines Cantrell, just off the top of my head) to an undisclosed location - there's got to be a bunker around here somewhere, what with Oak Ridge so close by - just in case someone drops a bomb on Street Theatre Company
