Matt Bianco, the sensational UK jazz-funk band is headed to Cape Town for one concert only on 2 December 2013 at the GrandWest Arena. The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present OUR TOWN as the inaugural production at the new Theatre School building, located at Racine and Fullerton on the Lincoln Park Campus. The Fullerton Stage Theatre is a 250-seat thrust theatre located on the first floor of the school. Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN is directed by Damon Kiely, premieres on Friday, October 4, and runs through Sunday, October 13, 2013. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. An additional matinee performance will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 5. Previews are on October 2 and 3, at 7:30 PM.

As a fan of S.R. Bindler's acclaimed and quirky 1997 documentary, I closely followed the creation and development of HANDS ON A HARDBODY. Previews for the initial La Jolla Playhouse production begin in April 2012, and it officially opened on May 12. The musical was well received by critics and audiences alike in California, generating buzz for it transfer to Broadway. The entire La Jolla cast reunited for the New York premiere of the show, which started previews on February 23, 2013 and officially opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on March 21, 2013. Sadly, the well-reviewed small show had a hard time finding an audience and had its final Broadway bow on Saturday, April 13. However, Ghostlight Records excited fans and those of us who were interested in the project when that announced they'd be recording an Original Broadway Cast Recording on that same fateful Saturday in April.

Irish Repertory Theatre welcomes Mary McCann, recently seen in BLUEBIRD at Atlantic Theatre Company where she is a founding member, and Paul O'Brien, previously seen at Irish Repertory Theater in MAN AND SUPERMAN, to the cast of THE WEIR by Conor McPherson, beginning July 16. Performances of the hit revival currently run through September 8, Tuesdays through Sundays, on the Irish Repertory's Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage (132 West 22nd Street). Marin Theatre Company closes its 2012-13 Season with a revival of Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane in Mill Valley from May 23 to June 16. Named San Francisco Chronicle's MVP of 2012 Bay Area theater, Mark Jackson (Shotgun Players, Aurora Theater Company) directs this "gloriously funny; wickedly amusing; unalloyed delight" (The Telegraph). Opening night is on Tuesday, May 28.

The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival.

The Organization for Bat Conservation at the Cranbrook Institute of Science will bring live bats to the opening night of Bat Boy: The Musical by Keythe Farley, Brian Flemming, and Laurence O'Keefe at the Bonstelle Theatre on April 12, 2013. The implausible story came straight from the bottom of the barrel tabloid, The Weekly World News. Three teenage spelunkers in West Virginia find a half human/half bat creature. Their rebellious teenage daughter, Shelley, falls in love with him and Meredith reveals a shocking secret: Bat Boy is Shelley's twin brother!

The Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour 55th Anniversary Celebration makes its way to Segerstrom Center for the Arts today, January 13 in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The all- star ensemble will perform classic jazz and original compositions by critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning artists: bassist and musical director Christian McBride, vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, saxophonist Chris Potter, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, pianist Benny Green and drummer Lewis Nash.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts and KPMG are will present the North American premiere of Waiting for the Barbarians by Nobel Prize winning author J.M. Coetzee, a co-production with Mopo Cultural Trust and in association with the Baxter Theatre Centre (South Africa). Adapted and directed by Alexandre Marine and produced by Maurice Podbrey, CM, the play premiered to critical and audience acclaim at Cape Town's Baxter Theatre Centre in August 2012, and will be presented at the Segal Theatre from January 27th to February 17th, 2013.
