Local non-profit theater group The Hope Players announces the latest in their signature series of fundraising performances - Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's masterpiece Into the Woods. The group is affiliated with The Hope for Change Foundation (HFC) - a Westchester-based non-profit organization that raises money for breast cancer research through theatrical endeavors.

Today we are celebrating the lineage of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's family-friendly fairy tale musical INTO THE WOODS now that we have gotten our very first glimpse of the new big screen edition starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp late this week via an attention-grabbing new teaser trailer and production photos.

One of Broadway's best musicals, the award winning Guys and Dolls opens tonight, July 19 at the State Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne for 10 shows only. Starring in this new production are Verity Hunt-Ballard, Martin Crewes, Chelsea Plumley, Adam Murphy, Bobby Fox and Christopher Horsey.

Broadway legend Joy Franz, who starred in the original and revival companies of Into the Woods on Broadway, is the final cast member to join Tim Realbuto's July 24th star-studded 54 Below show entitled Tim Realbuto: Alone (With Plenty of Help). Throughout the evening, each guest star will play a different person in Tim's life. Franz will play Tim's mother.

Following up the triumphant 'Night After the Tonys With Linda Eder', Chris Isaacson Presents has announced a one-night-only concert event at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 16 at 8pm. Broadway Under the Stars will star Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday and will also feature (in alphabetical order) Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys, stage and film), Rogelio Douglas, Jr. (In the Heights), Danny Gurwin (Little Women) and Tony Award-nominee Chad Kimball (Memphis) David Galligan will direct, and the music director is Gerald Sternbach.

Today we continue a special spotlight series highlighting the spectacular entertainment set to be presented this coming Monday, June 16, at Joe's Pub, THE LORD & THE MASTER: BROADWAYWORLD.COM SINGS THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER & STEPHEN SONDHEIM with a tribute to INTO THE WOODS.

High school students from across Washington State packed Benaroya Hall tonight for The 12th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater, a high school version of the Tony Awards, proudly sponsored for the tenth year by Wells Fargo with additional support from Alaska Airlines. The house was packed with 2,000 teenagers, dressed in costume representing their schools' musical theater productions, who cheered for their peers as they performed musical excerpts and accepted awards honoring top student achievements in musical theater. The acclaimed event, directed this year by Mathew Wright, handed out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display.

Today we continue the 2014 edition of our annual BroadwayWorld feature series spotlighting the very best Tony Awards-related moments of all time with a special focus on one of the biggest battles for Best Musical with THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA versus INTO THE WOODS.

Paper Mill Playhouse concludes its 75th Anniversary Season with America's favorite musical, GREASE. With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease will be directed by Daniel Goldstein with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. Additional songs are by John Farrar, Barry Gibb, Scott Simon and Louis St. Louis. Grease will play the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from May 28 through June 29, 2014. Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joshua Borenstein, will present The Last Five Years, written and composed by Jason Robert Brown, from tonight, May 7 through June 1, 2014 on the Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck III Theatre.

Roundabout Theatre Company will present McCarter Theatre Center and Fiasco Theatre's acclaimed, re-imagined production of the Tony Award-winning musical classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine at the Laura Pels Theatre in Winter 2015.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of Laura Marks's powerful new play Bethany. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, Bethany will run Jan. 25 - Feb. 23, 2014 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Jan. 25 - Jan. 29.
