The Department of Theater & Dance at UCSB presents Absolutely! {perhaps} a modern adaptation by Martin Sherman of Luigi Pirandello's widely known play, Right You Are (If You Think So). In this fast moving comedy under the direction of Simon Williams, the play explores the nature of truth. Absolutely! {perhaps} performs in the Performing Arts Theater on the UC Santa Barbara campus February 15 - 23, 2013.

Flat Rock Playhouse is teaming with veteran Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn (For The Glory, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Wonderland) and lyricist Jack Murphy on a brand new 'jazz age' musical set in Asheville, North Carolina. Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald, the hot Jazz Age novelist who wrote 'This Side of Paradise,' 'The Beautiful and Damned,' 'The Great Gatsby,' 'Tender Is the Night' and 'The Last Tycoon,' and his wife, Zelda. Canadian Opera Company Presents Two One Acts, A FLORENTINE TRAGEDY and GIANNI SCHICCHI, Now thru 5/25

The Canadian Opera Company presents a double bill of one-act operas as part of its 2012 spring season with the Canadian premiere of Alexander Zemlinsky's A Florentine Tragedy and the return of Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, last seen with the COC in 1996. The two operas are presented in a new COC production by the legendary soprano-turned-director Catherine Malfitano and world-renowned conductor Sir Andrew Davis. A Florentine Tragedy is sung in German and Gianni Schicchi is sung in Italian, both with English SURTITLES™. The double bill of A Florentine Tragedy/Gianni Schicchi runs for eight performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts beginning tonight, April 26 and running May 2, 5, 12, 15, 18, 20 and 25, 2012.

New York City Center will reopen following a historic renovation and modernization with a star-studded gala on October 25. The event will kick off a celebratory season of new and expanded programming, festivals, exhibits, a special commission, and performances by world-class dance and theater companies. The renovation, designed by Ennead Architects, LLP (formerly Polshek Partnership), has transformed the landmark building into a contemporary cultural center complete with modern amenities and enhanced historic details, from the mezzanine lobby's painted ceiling and murals to the auditorium's arabesque dome. City Center is located on 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

The New York Philharmonic will receive the Asia Society's Cultural Ambassador Award at a black-tie dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. The Asia Society's Annual Awards Dinner recognizes extraordinary individuals who have contributed to promoting understanding between Asians and Americans. The Philharmonic is being cited for its bridge-building concerts across the globe, particularly its historic concert in Pyongyang, DPRK, in February 2008, and its debut in Hanoi, Vietnam, in October 2009. At the dinner, two members of the Philharmonic - Assistant Concertmaster Michelle Kim and violist Vivik Kamath - will perform two works, including the well-known Korean folk song, Arirang, which they played with the Orchestra in Pyongyang.
