Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

Over the course of their 2014 season, Theatre at the Center, a major equity player on the Chicago theater scene, has introduced audiences to never-before-seen productions on Chicagoland stages. To round out their current season, they will be making no exception, and are thrilled to present the regional debut of the musical adaptation of Truman Capote's A CHRISTMAS MEMORY, November 13 through December 14, with a press opening on Sunday, November 16 at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster.

Contemporary Theatre of Dallas will make its New York debut in July 2014 with LONE STAR and LAUNDRY & BOURBON. The two one-acts by the widely-produced late playwright James McLure give a flavorful slice of life in rural Texas. Now in its 13th season, the celebrated regional theater company has been named 'Best Theatre Company' by the Dallas Observer. Their productions are regularly selected in the 'Top 10 Shows of the Year' from the Dallas Voice. LONE STAR and LAUNDRY & BOURBON, directed by Cynthia Hestand, will be performed at The Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) from July 5 to July 26. Scroll down for a sneak peek at both shows!

Theatre at the Center celebrates the holidays by bringing audiences an endearing combination of a treasured tale and soaring music by a Disney musical genius, A Christmas Carol: The Musical. Composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) infuses the Charles Dickens holiday classic with music the whole family will cherish. Full of cheer for all ages, A Christmas Carol: The Musical opened November 14 and runs through December 22. Theatre at the Center's production will be directed by Artistic Director William Pullinsi and stars five time Jeff-Award nominee Larry Adams as 'Scrooge'. The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, composer Elliot Goldenthal, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson were inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23rd at Espace (635 West 42nd Street).
