All classes will be held at Inscape Arts Building, Studio 230, 815 Seattle Blvd South, Seattle, WA 98134. Classes recommended for ages 15 and up. Class sizes limited to 8.

ABOUT THE CLASSES:

Beginning Stage Puppeteering

Saturday, September 12

1-3pm

Cost: $45 pre-reg/$55 day-of

In this fun, dynamic class, you'll learn the foundations of good stage puppetry - focus, physical commitment and basic puppet operation. Seattle-based puppeteer Rachel Jackson will teach you how to make your puppet seem alive and connect with your audience. You'll get lots of hands-on time with professional arm-and-rod puppets plus a simple practice puppet to take home so you can keep working on your skills.

"Finding Your Puppet's Voice"

Saturday, September 19

1-3:30pm

Cost: $45 pre-reg/$55 day-of

You know how to make your puppet talk, but what does she sound like?

You can make him move, but where is he going? And how does he get there?

In this fun, intermediate puppeteering class, you'll learn the basics of characterization - voice, physicality and emotion - and how to apply them to your puppet. You'll get tons of tips for making character choices and see what a big impact they can have on your puppet's performance. *Beginning Puppetry class or equivalent puppet experience required.

Basic Puppet Building - Animals

Saturday, September 26

10am - 5:30pm

Cost: $175

Walk in with a sad, naked hand and walk out with a fabulous new puppet friend in this beginning class. Spend your day immersed in the hands-on experience of basic puppet construction: cutting, sewing (hand and machine) and hot gluing your way to a finished puppet. Your teacher will guide you step-by-step as you create one of five animals: Dog, Cat, Bear, Bunny or Unicorn...or any animal your imagination can devise.
