Tickets are now on sale for the Whidbey Children's Theater production of The Little Prince. The show opens April 26th and closes May 5th.

"The Little Prince is such a beautiful story of friendship, love and dedication," says WCT alum Ahna Dunn-Wilder, who directs this gem. "I am so moved by the simple, yet oft forgotten, lessons taught by the characters. It's an honor to direct this much loved classic." Join the talented group of 5th through 8th grade actors who bring you this beloved tale.

The play tells the story of a weary Aviator whose plane crash strands her in the Sahara Desert where she meets a little prince from a far-away planet. The disbelieving aviator reluctantly becomes charmed by this peculiar fellow and is whisked away by his tales of distant worlds and adventures through the galaxy. The Little Prince befriends all he meets on the many planets he visits: including the Rose, the King, the Conceited Man, the Business Man, the Lamplighter, the Geographer, the Fox, the Snake, and the Desert Flower. He discovers a unique insight from each. Through their time together, The Aviator and the Little Prince each gain a new understanding of how to laugh, cry and love again.

This script, by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar, utilizes a "human set:" a special ensemble that uses movement to bring to life the illusions in the play in immersive ways. Choreographer Bekah Zachritz has created a fresh and engaging theatrical experience. "Bekah has been an invaluable part of this process for me," says Dunn-Wilder. "WCT is lucky to have such a skilled teacher involved."

"I am in awe of these young actors," Dunn-Wilder says, "They have accepted this project with passion and grace. The rehearsals have been wonderfully collaborative, and I could not be more excited to share these gifted storytellers with our community. The show we have prepared is a fun and unique treat."

As the Little Prince says: "All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it." So, come to remember your childhood and dream a little with the cast and crew of The Little Prince.
