One Night Only! On November 11th, seven of Seattle's finest solo performers will take the stage at Theatre Off-Jackson to tell stories inspired by our region's local myths and modern legends. A benefit for the 4th annual Solo Performance Festival at the Theatre Off-Jackson, writer and performer SuzAnne Morrison (Yoga Bitch; Your Own Personal Alcatraz) will host Modern Mythologies & Local Legends: A Night of Seattle Stories.

We've all heard the factory-made mythologies that tell us who we are. That we're jet-making, Starbucks-swilling, book selling, programmer drones. The descendants of industrial charlatans and mail-order brides. Dot-commers who are now the proud owners of private islands and dinosaur menageries! But what about the stories of life as it is lived in these parts? The stories we tell each other about our regional gods and monsters, the stories we carry in our bones?

From tales of a family's friendship with Ted Bundy to working among the lavender, donuts, and meth heads at Pike Place Market, seven local performers will tell their stories of life under the cloud cover.

With: Matt Smith (My Last Year With the Nuns; Helium), Mark Siano (Soft Rock; Pinko Holiday), Becky Poole (Murder, Hope; Kitty Poole), Tikka Sears (The Memory War Project), Whitney Lawless (Circus Contraption), Troy Mink (Carlotta's Late Night Wing Ding) and hosted by SuzAnne Morrison (Yoga Bitch; Your Own Personal Alcatraz).

SuzAnne Morrison is the author of Yoga Bitch, a memoir that will be published by Broadway Books in Spring of 2011. Based on her long-running one-woman show of the same title, Yoga Bitch has been called "Ambitious, ballsy, and hilarious" by Seattle Weekly and "New Age Nirvana" by Time Out London. A 2009 recipient of 4Culture and Artist Trust grants for solo performance, Suzanne has been touring Yoga Bitch around the States and the UK since 2007 and is developing a new show, Your Own Personal Alcatraz, about growing up on an island in the Northwest and her adolescent fascination with Ted Bundy, who was a family friend. You can find Suzanne at her blog, suzannemorrison.blogspot.com, where she writes about absolutely everything she's reading, writing, and rehearsing.

Modern Mythologies & Local Legends is made possible in part due to the generous support of 4Culture and Artist Trust.

SPF:4 - Can You Get My Back? runs March 4 through April 3, 2010 at Theatre Off Jackson.
