Thalia's Umbrella announces their fourth production: When Love Speaks, by David Wright. When Love Speaks will be performed February 9-25, 2017, in the Isaac Studio Theater at Taproot Theater in Greenwood.

When Love Speaks, a sizzling hot verse play by David Wright, with an assist from his buddies Will Shakespeare, Mighty Chris Marlowe, "The Benster" Jonson, Queen Elizabeth (the First, of course), and many other wanton wordsmiths.

Four people meet at a resort at the edge of the world. They fall in and out of love, woo and argue . . . all while speaking some of the best (and some of the worst!) love poetry ever written.

When Love Speaks is the perfect Valentine and a delightful antidote to the grey days of February in Seattle.

When Love Speaks was given its world premiere at the Seattle Shakespeare Company 25 years ago. Directed then and now by Daniel Wilson, he promises a delicious contemporary re-working.

Each performance will be followed by a short reading of contemporary love poems presented by a local poet-the list of poets who will participate includes former Washington State poet laureate Elizabeth Austen.

"Wonderfully ingenious!" -Seattle P-I

"A dandy dose of romance!"-Misha Berson, Seattle Times

About Thalia's Umbrella
Thalia's Umbrella is a collaboration between Producing Artistic Director Terry Edward Moore and director Daniel Wilson, to produce plays that dance on the line between comedy and tragedy, taking the light of life seriously and the serious lightly, to create a space where, in Robert Frost's words, "the work is play for mortal stakes." Thalia's first two productions, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg and A Lesson From Aloes, each received a Footlight Award from the Seattle Times. Moore was a co-founder of Seattle Shakespeare Company, and served as Co-Artistic Director there for six years. He has acted and/or directed for most of the professional theaters in the Pacific Northwest, as well as theaters from coast to coast. Daniel Wilson has directed plays professionally from New York to Alaska, and has directed opera in Oregon, Alaska, and for Cornish College of the Arts.
