THE LIGHTNING THIEF Storms Into 5th Avenue Theatre This Spring

The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce that the national tour of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, a musical adaption of the New York Times best-selling novel written by Rick Riordan, will play its stage from April 23 - 28, 2019.

Single tickets are on sale now and are available online at www.5thavenue.org, over the phone at 206.625.1900, or in person at the Box Office (1308 5thAvenue in Downtown Seattle). The 5th is also excited to share that it has partnered with TodayTix, a free mobile app that provides on-demand access to theater tickets, for a mobile lottery offering $25 tickets to each performance of this engagement. More information about the lottery can be found at the end of this release.

The cast features Chris McCarrell and Kristin Stokes, who will reprise the roles of Percy Jackson and Annabeth, respectively, after bringing the characters to life in the critically acclaimed New York production. In addition to McCarrell and Stokes, two other actors from the New York production will reprise their roles on the road: Sarah Beth Pfeifer as Clarisse and others, and James Hayden Rodriguez as Luke and others. The cast also features Izzy Figueroa (Understudy for Grover, Chiron, Assistant Stage Manager), Jorrel Javier (Grover and Mr. D), Ryan Knowles (Chiron and others), Sam Leicht (Understudy for Percy and Luke),Jalynn Steele (Sally and others), and T. Shyvonne Stewart (Understudy for Sally and Clarisse).

With more than 100 million copies of the book series sold worldwide, this global phenomenon has found a new home on the live stage in a "mesmerizing" (TheaterMania) theatrical event that provides "a spectacularly fun adventure that will thrill everyone in the family!" The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has a Drama Desk nominated book by Joe Tracz, music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, and is directed byStephen Brackett, with choreography by Patrick McCollum, with set design by Lee Savage, costume design by Sydney Maresca, lighting design by David Lander, Obie award winning sound design by Ryan Rumery, fight direction by Rod Kinter and orchestrations by Wiley Deweese and Rob Rokicki. The production is being presented by special arrangement with Rick Riordan and the Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency.

By leveraging TodayTix's mobile lottery ticketing technology, guests can enter to win lottery tickets to The 5th's engagement of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical directly through the TodayTix app. This modern convenience means that hopeful lottery winners do not need to physically stand in line for hours before a show. The 5th is offering 20 lottery tickets for each performance. In order to gain access to the $25 lottery tickets, ticket buyers should download the TodayTix app and enter the lottery each morning beginning April 23. Winners will be selected in the afternoon and notified via push notification and email 2-4 hours prior to curtain, at which point they can claim and purchase their tickets in the app. Patrons can pick up their tickets at The 5th Avenue Theatre Box Office starting 30 minutes prior to the performance.
