THE HABIT 14 Adds Additional Show at Bathhouse Theatre

After crushing their first two weekends with audiences raving, sell out nights, and critical acclaim, THE HABIT is adding one more show to their engagement at the Bathhouse Theatre. New jokes, bigger laughs, a proven comedic success, and a tighter sharper show for the final 4 performances.

The Habit has taken a new direction as they combine 90% new material with 10% old favorites and rare material never seen by Seattle audiences before. Look for sketches about vindictive polygraph machines, the ruthless tyranny of the No-Pants Gang, and the now legendary song about finding affordable housing in Seattle. Equal parts silly, surreal, and cerebral, The Habit aims to please and hopefully catch audiences off-guard with their unique brand of absurd humor.

The Habit was formed in the 1990s by a group of University of Washington undergraduate students who had met at school while creating material for an undergrad cabaret called Theatre Dangerously. The group broke off and creating a sketch comedy troupe devoted exclusively to writing and performing new sketch comedy material. They were called Humphry's Habit originally, named after Humphry Davy, the inventor of laughing gas. The group trimmed their numbers in half and continued on in the Seattle Fringe going by the name their fans had given them: The Habit. The Habit performed sold out and critically acclaimed shows for 4 years in Seattle in the late 90s and early 2000s and then toured the US and Canada with stops in New York and Chicago before relocating to Los Angeles. The Habit's efforts to sell their comedy to HBO, Comedy Central, and other networks never fully materialized and the members moved all over the U.S., but the group continued to sporadically perform together and meet in Las Vegas, not to do shows, just to drink and gamble and joke around. Then in 2010 someone said "Hey let's do a show in Seattle again, that was fun," everyone agreed, and in 2011 The Habit returned to The Bathhouse Theater for a wildly successful run and Habit shows in Seattle are now slated to be an annual fall occurrence.
