Studio East and StoryBook Theater have four marvelous, family-friendly productions this spring. The youngest audiences, and their parents, will enjoy a touring production of StoryBook Theater's 55-minute musical The Ugly Duckling. Elementary and middle school kids will love Studio East's spooky and kooky production of the musical The Addams Family. Older tweens and teens can experience the hilarity of Shakespeare's As You Like It, and all ages will love the quirky and colorful compilation of Dr. Seuss's works, Seussical the Musical.

In The Ugly Duckling, life isn't quite what it's quacked up to be for an unfortunate, young duckling. Bullied by family and friends for looking different, this unlucky, but plucky ducky decides to leave home for something better. On his own, this poor little bird's goose seems to be cooked...or is it? Tickets to The Ugly Duckling are $11 for all patrons over 1 year of age and can be purchased at www.storybooktheater.org. This show is best for ages 3-10.

The Addams Family features an original story, and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents. It is recommended for ages 9+ and has a running time of approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Adult tickets are $15, while students and seniors are $13. All Gala tickets are $18. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland. There are just 4 performances:

In Seussical the Musical, the Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge - not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. This wonderful tale of adventure is recommended for ages 4+ and has a running time of approximately 2 hours. Adult tickets are $15, while students and seniors are $13.
