Stone Soup Theatre Closes the Curtain on THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, 4/25

By: Apr. 25, 2010

Stone Soup Theatre in Seattle, Washington will end its run of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES: 10 ANNIVERSARY EDITION on April 25th. This version of the play will include five new monologues, presented by five multi-ethnic, gender-diverse women. The two casts feature Janet Hietter, Melissa Malloy, Joan Patrie, Marisol Sanchez, Heather Ward for Fridays and Sundays. Camille Campbell, Geni Hawkins, Frances Hearn, Aidan Karamanyan, Melissa Topscher are featured Thursdays and Saturdays.

Five years ago, Stone Soup Theatre performed a sold out, 5-month run of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES. The 10th anniversary edition will be celebrated by featuring five never-before-published monologues directed by Tyrone Brown. These additions to the original text are based on interviews with women in the Native American culture, the Comfort Women of 40's Japan, and a boy who wanted nothing more than to have a vagina among others.

Originally written by Eve Ensler, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES first premiered off-Broadway in 1996. Following its success on the stage, a HBO television special was created shortly after. THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES is a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mysteries. No one who sees it will ever look at women's bodies or think of sex in quite the same way again.
