Created by Seattle-based actors Jadd Davis,Lauren Marie Smith and Jared Michael Brown, The Inverse Opera strives to fill the niche between opera and musical theater, using the classical voice to make a story beautiful and storytelling to make a song fascinating. Their lively cabaret type THIS! will obliterate any preconceptions about opera as a pretentious art form. Situated mere feet from the audience, the performers create an exciting and intimate evening by taking advantage of the wealth of material available to the truly well-trained singer. Audiences are treated to a uniquely broad spectrum of music - from Puccini to Elvis Presley to Broadway -- and everything in between!

The SSR performances will be heightened versions of TIO's cabarets wherein the audience is encouraged to let their hair hang down, grab a cocktail and relax while the singers perform themed evenings of song. The Upcoming program this weekend is titled type THIS!.

type THIS! is every performer's dream program: singers perform the material that they LOVE, but would never feasibly be hired to sing. We all have the right to belt out whatever songs we want and do justice to any characters we see fit. That's what this evening is all about: breaking the mold, taking the chance, and risking it all to prove that performing against 'type' can be powerful. Previously performed in a cabaret setting, this program will be a hilarious and poignant explosion of song.
