Seattle Opera Jump Starts Season with LA TRAVIATA, 10/18
Seattle Opera's 2009/10 season kicks off next week with the return of the popular favorite La Traviata. Not seen here since 1996, this glamorous and heartfelt love story of a worldly woman and the man of her dreams is one of the most popular Italian operas of all. Compelling characters, glamorous party scenes and Verdi's masterfully melodic score, make La Traviata an irresistible classic.
This glamorous and heartfelt portrait of a worldly courtesan forced to give up the man of her dreams is arguably the most popular and accessible of Verdi's masterpieces. Returning to Seattle Opera for the first time in 13 years, the tale of masked revelry, family strife, blighted love, and selfless sacrifice weaves an amazing range of emotions and moods into a nearly perfect dramatic confection.
The production is in Italian with English Captions and runs approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, with 2 intermissions.
