Pickwick was formed in 2008 when singer Galen Disston left Los Angeles and relocated to Seattle, Washington. Originally an alt-country group, Pickwick spent the following two years trying to establish themselves in the Seattle Folk scene. Amidst a barrage of similarly-minded artists, the band struggled to connect with audiences and was on the verge of disintegration. Around that time Disston heard Sam Cooke's classic, "A Change is Gonna Come." Floored by the poignance of Cooke's voice, the band began experimenting with music that would allow Disston the same kind of vocal freedom. It was not long before the band had completely revamped their sound. Raised on the rhythm sections of indie rock staples such as Spoon & The Walkmen, this new undertaking led the members of the band to dive deep into the catalogs of the Stax and Motown labels. By combining these two seemly different points of reference, Pickwick was able to cultivate a sound that was more organic and unique to the six members that compose the band. As a nod to music from the past as well as their own love of vinyl recordings, Pickwick has begun to release their music through a series of 45's that are also available via digital download. The band is currently working on writing material for their debut full-length album, expected to be released in 2012.

From backwoods barbecues and community gatherings; Allen Stone emerges to share personal melodies, telling his tales of life after just 23 years. Getting his start singing at his father's church in small-town America; it wasn't until later when introduced to the greats of soul music (Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin) and then to the confessional lyrical fashion of the 60's -70's singer/ songwriters, did music begin to ignite intense passion, eventually carrying this boy to a musical home. His debut album, Last To Speak, touches upon a range of styles and themes. Integrating classic soul, catchy pop hooks, r&b beats and folk roots with lyrical matters of testimonial broken relationships, poisonous politics and an intimate challenge to religion. Stone's music is notable for his finely crafted evocative songs and a fresh, smooth, soul-filled voice-one that certainly belies his age. On his just released self-titled second album, Allen has pushed his sound and lyricism to a greater level of noted individuality. Produced by Lior Goldenberg in Los Angeles, CA (Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Macy Gray, Ziggy Marley) and backed by Raphael Shaadiq's rhythm section with the Tower of Power, Allen Stone is set to embark on an array of bigger stages in 2011. Now partnered with MBK Entertainment based in New York, NY, Allen's first stop was on stage at the ASCAP Music Lounge and BMI Snowball Showcases at The Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. This special event will feature Allen Stone playing his original material, with Seattle Rock Orchestra backing.

Mockingbird Time, the new album from acclaimed group The Jayhawks, is out now on Rounder Records. Already receiving acclaim, the album's first single, "She Walks In So Many Ways," has spent five weeks at #1 on FMQB's Non Commercial Radio Chart, in addition to being Top 5 at FMQB's Top 200 Single Chart, Top 5 Overall at Radio & Records top100, Top 25 at R & R's monitor chart and Top 25 at Mediabase. Moreover, the album is #2 on the Americana chart. In celebration of the release, the band recently performed on the "Late Show with David Letterman". The 12-track album is the first full-band studio release featuring both founding members Gary Louris and Mark Olson since 1995's Tomorrow the Green Grass. Of returning to the studio Louris tells Rolling Stonemagazine, "Our goal is to make the best Jayhawks album that's ever been done. Mark and I both feel that there is some business left undone and we got together and wrote some great songs." In addition to co-writing all the songs with Olson, Louris also produced the record. Mockingbird Time was recorded in Minneapolis at The Terrarium Recording Studios over a month's time during the winter of 2010. Other original band members featured on the record include Karen Grotberg (keyboards, vocals), Tim O'Reagan (drums, vocals) and Marc Perlman (bass). The new release comes on the heels of several pivotal and reinvigorating years for the band, whose first career-spanning anthology Music From The North Country was released in 2009 by American/Legacy. Additionally, in August 2010, for the first time on CD, the self-titled debut album from the band (often referred to by fans as The Bunkhouse album) was reissued by Lost Highway Records. Moreover, in January 2011 the band's first two albums for American Recordings, Hollywood Town Hall (1992) and Tomorrow The Green Grass (1995), were re-released with a wealth of rare bonus tracks. In conjunction with these reissues the original Jayhawks line-up shared the stage for the first time in 15+ years in January 2011, performing special shows in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto. Of the band's performance as a reunited quintet, the Chicago Tribune heralded, "During a soaring two-hour set, the Jayhawks put on a clinic in the art of blended melodies and balanced songwriting. As always, Olson and fellow guitarist/singer Gary Louris' impeccable vocal harmonies held sway."
