Mad Horse Theatre Company Proudly Presents THE TOTALITARIANS

By:

Mad Horse Theatre Company opens its 31st season with the perfect foil to the crazy circus of this year's election!

THE TOTALITARIANS offers a satirical take on our dysfunctional political scene, and a look at what the future of politics might bring.

Nebraska is on the brink of revolution! Penny, a compulsively watchable candidate for state office, enlists the help of Francine, a silver-tongued operative to help her win the election. Francine's husband, a doctor, is lying to his dying patients - one of whom opens his eyes to Penny's nefarious plans for the Cornhusker State. This raucous dark comedy explores the state of modern political discourse, modern relationships, and how easy it is to believe truths without facts.

Mad Horse Theatre Company selected THE TOTALITARIANS as its 2016-2017 Season opener last winter, long before the American political climate had devolved into the polarizing pandemonium it is today.

According to director Chris Horton, 'In the midst of this current confounding, infuriating (dare I say scary?) Presidential campaign, we thought it would be fun to share playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's satirical take on our dysfunctional political scene and his speculation on its future direction. THE TOTALITARIANS was first presented in 2014; it appears our reality has quickly overtaken satire.'

THE TOTALITARIANS features Mad Horse Company members Shannon Campbell, Janice Gardner, and Mark Rubin, and heartily welcomes new Company Member Jacob Cote.

The Production Team includes Chris Horton (Director), Jennifer Halm-Perazone (Stage & Production Manager),Christopher Price (Set Design), Corey Anderson (Lighting Design), Stacey Mancine Koloski (Props), Christine Louise Marshall (Costume Design), Scott Leland (Sound Design & Master Carpenter), Marie Stewart Harmon (Box Office Manager), Tootie Van Reenen (House Manager), and Stacey Collins (Graphic Design).
