Jean Falls, Co-Founder of A Contemporary Theatre, Has Died at 94
BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Jean Falls, a co-founder of A Contemporary Theatre has died at age 94. The news was confirmed by The Seattle Times.
Falls' son, children's books author Tor Seidler, said his mother had recently suffered two falls, followed by a stroke.
Falls and her husband, Gregory Falls established A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) in 1965 She performed in multiple leading roles (under her stage name Jean Burch) in ACT's first stage productions and served as a key administrator. Falls later served on ACT's various boards.
In 1974, Falls collaborated with composers to write the musical revue, "Seattle Eclectic" as well as a short opera called "Winter Weeds," and an adaptation of "Heidi" that had several regional runs.
Falls was a co-founder of Seattle's Empty Space Theatre, a member of the Seattle Center Advisory Commission, and sat on the boards of Allied Arts and Town Hall.
